This is probably one of the lamest topics here... but I was wondering, how would I smoke the tires of my 850t5 off the start? I've heard, hold the brake and let go of it... I'd like to hear it from the experts

thanks guys

GET MORE POWER!!!!!!!
Sorry, just kidding.
Well, it helps if the road or your tires are a bit slick, if that's not a possibility, try holding the brake (foot) while building revs, once you get past 2500, go ahead and drop the brake while you slam the gas. This allows the engine to engage wheel movement when the turbo is just starting to seriously kick in.

Let me know how it turns out.

OK... thanks david, I tried it this afternooon, I put some water on and some in front of the tires before I tried it. At first, the car slid, stopped, and then started again... I forgot to turn off the traction control. The second time, I turned it off, and the tires were still kinda slick, I dropped the brake at about 1800 rpm, and nothing happened. I tried it at 3000, and the car was just screaming... the tires kept spinning and spinning. The smoke started after about 8 seconds of the tires spinning. I smoked them for about 15 seconds, and the whole cabin smelled like smoke for the rest of the night. I'm starting to regret doing this, because these tires are kind of new, but it was worth it. I'll try to post the pic one of these days.

Why would you want to apart from appearing a ******** to all and sundry?

You've got a performance car, so you don't need to show off like the sad gits with some be-spoilered heap of crap.

Keep your TRACS engaged, save your rubber and leave the others behind...

For those of you with fast connections... check this out... Due to the poor camera skills, you can't see just how much smoke there is... but believe me... it was good. I will probably have more this weekend too (my tires are bald and getting newer ones next week, and just for the record they were practicly bald when I did that burnout, and I was just finishing them off

Rear wheel drive is cool but way to easy, front drive smoke is just as good if not better of a show when done well.
I have a good video of my car at the track, could someone let me know the steps to transfer the video to the computer, if so I will post it.
Thanks, Sean.

Good point Sean, FWD burnouts look way nicer.

As for getting the video on your computer, I KINDA know how to do it. First, it depends on your camcorder, if it had a memory stick like those new ones, or if it was older with the yellow, red, and white cables. Usually, you can plug a yellow cable into your computer, or an s-video, which looks alot like the mouse/keyboard one. Then there's programs that can take the video off of your camcorder and put it on your computer, that' show I've heard about doing it, please correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm interested in that too!

1FastBox,
If you want, you could send me the tape with the footage, and I could digitize it for you and send it back to you on a disk. I could even put titles or add in effects if you wanted. I have access to Final Cut Pro2 (for anyone who knows video stuff) Let me know... I actually have some more footage that we shot last weekend, and will probably have even more after this comming weekend (we are shooting a short film with a lot of car stuff in it, and what can I say, we both already have BALD tires that need to be finished off, before the winter set goes on) but, anyway... email me if you want me to edit that stuff and digitize it for you.
