I can't get over the Lag My 06 auto has. I feel like it takes a while to hit 60 mph Top end is INSANE in my car now tho with Bsr chip. I finaly Raced my buddies M3 from 20-125 mph and Pulled him by 2 cars Last night.. great feeling.
But lower gears seem weak.
Any mods I can do to fix this? I have a exhaust on order will this help abit? Maybe a Intake?

Drop a V8 in if you don't want turbo lag.

The intake would help a little the dp and exhaust will also help. Of course its nothing a lil 35 shot of nitorus couldnt fix.

MT or GT? If you have the MT, then there is hope (improved launch, frequent replacement of clutch, etc), otherwise, just enjoy the car for the good things about it. No car can be all things to all people.

I think your MY06 GT has torque limitter for 1st and 2nd gear.

Try a break-stand launch (except you might break something doing that! ie. go easy with it at first) My old auto 850T wagon used to pull hard off the line doing a small break stand. Get your left foot on the break and press the gas with your right, build boost by getting the RPMs up to approx. 3000 and when the light goes green mash the gas and release the break... but that was my old 850T, see what other S60R GT owners say about this idea.

Would a turbo V8 still have lag?


Regarding turbo lag, the imrovement from my old 850T wagon to my current S60 T5 was dramatic (dramatically better), granted the power band of my T5 is not nearly as flat as that of the S60R. Do you think zigger's problem is mainly turbo lag or 1st/2nd gear torque limitter?

If your intention was to buy an M3 beater (performance wise), you have some work to do to make the R such a beast. Even if you can match the acceleration, you still won't easily touch the handling. However, the R offers much more in the way of creature comforts IMO.

Mine is in the shop right now getting the mercedes TT V12 in it and a 3 foot turning radius.... If I do this I can give boosted a run for the money in the southeast!

nope, you're wrong. a v8 can still supply one turbo. its as simple as taking the manifolds and combining their discharge to ONE turbo flange.

Well, while you are correct about this, what passenger car that you know of has the room underhood for that kind of plumbing arrangement?

04 through 06, GT and MT all have some type of TQ control available. Yannis once suggested that even the MT had some reduction in 1st gear. So it is the amount of reduction that has changed...... 06 GT has much less but still some modulation of TQ.

This car will make an incredible sound of death when doing a brake start. I tested it and it was saying in loud words, " Do not do this to me"
