I have a 2006 S40 T5 AWD (stock 218hp) and have added a K&N Cold Air Intake, Heico Sport Exhaust, and a Rica ECU tune. How many horsepower do I have now? Also, if I add a downpipe what will that give me? Thanks!

Re: Horsepower Question (toga989)

I don't know, to be honest all I could say is dyno it and find out, and when you do let me know since I have basically the same setup, and plan on getting that tune as well...

Re: Horsepower Question (carreragt7)

I would say ~248 now maybe 255 with down pipe, but you really need a dyno so throw down some cash and get a run done and then post it!!

Re: Horsepower Question (toga989)

240 HP Maybe On a Good Cool Day , with Down Pipe Total
265 Hp with Proper ECU - Up Date .

It's all about the Torque which will be way up there .

Re: Horsepower Question (toga989)

I have a K&N intake, ATP intercooler, and 3inch downpipe. I had the CAT still on the car when did a dyno. The stock s40 T5 is about 168 to the wheel. With my mods I was at 210 to the wheel. You could probably add 25 to 45 with a tune. Depends on which company and what gas you run.

I also have the intake, an Evolve exhaust and RICA tune (for downpipe). I also have an ATP downpipe, no cat, Bell intercooler, and I dyno'd on a 22 degree F day with tons of air flowing through the garage. I put down 288 max whp and 303 ft*lb torque max. 11-12psi from about 3800rpm to red line (it held 11+ the entire way).

Here's my spreadsheet smoothing:

And the raw data with added lines/data points

Re: Horsepower Question (mattdoc)

Starting to think that the Head Really Needs some Larger Exhaust Valves

or a Good Porting and a 4 Grind on the Valve .

The Euro-RS , I Believe also has Better Cams .

Looks Like that Bell is Helping Out.

Speaking of InterCoolers , I Wonder How all the Evolve Guys are Running?

Have you thought about sending your dyno info to rica for a custom tune?

Yep, but they didn't answer my e-mail, and neither did Frank at EST. I don't have a/f or boost logged on the dyno, anyway. I'd have to do another pull.

Re: Horsepower Question (mattdoc)

Wow those are some great numbers. The only problem I've run into is that I have an AWD, so it's very hard to find a downpipe that will fit. Do you have suggestions? Also, is the Bell intercooler actually worth the money?

Phuz is in the works for making an AWD S40 downpipe so hopefully it will be a good, viable option. Probably similarly priced to his S60R ones...

Yeah I just upgraded to stage two and they took forever. What do you need to have them make a custom tune again

Without a cat, the exhaust sounds more poppy and burbly. I love it.

For a custom tune, I think you need a log of rpm, hp, tq, boost, a/f, and speed. Intake air temp wouldn't hurt but probably isn't necessary.

Re: (jdsr917)

Without being familiar with NY emissions, I can 99.9% guarantee you will fail without a cat. Bolt it on for your testing, then take it off until you have to test again.

Re: (jdsr917)

It more than likely wont pass. Your HC and CO would fail for sure... i actually managed to pass an emmissions test at idle with my turbo integra lol. However bombed at the low RPM rev, shows that with the right tune it can be clean but still wont pass state law.
