just relocated the horns from behind grill to under front left air dam using instructions from volvospeed.com. i also ordered a k/n air filter from ipd. in conjunction will these modifications result in any noticeable pick-up? my abs and tracs light periodically come on sometimes, any possible causes?
thanks

To me the horn mod will not give a noticeable difference, in theory sure, but really no. I consider it a mod for looks, if you have a mesh grille. As far as the K&N, it's great because of the warranty, and the way you can clean it, and not have to buy new ones.

I also put in a new air filter - in my case the ITG foam filter.

The pickup seemed to be better after fitting, but remember this is a clean filter replacing a dirty one...

The horn mod seems to have little downside but frankly very little upside either, except perhaps in very hot weather.

Hey,

TRACS light & ABS light on together means you need an ABS module, about $400 retail, plus they are hard to access in Turbo model 850, so labor is a factor. I've been looking at those two lights blink on for weeks; braking is now partly affected. On occasion pedal gets "hard" and car doesn't stop as expected.
Changing module this week, wil report result.

Also, I moved my horns and added K&N; throttle response improved over a clean paper (non-Volvo) filter. Benefit is when you wash and oil your dirty filter your car gets a little"jump"!!
Also try Bosch Plus4 platinum plugs, I pay about $20 bucks a set...don't pay 8.50 each...

Best,

Its not likely you would see much of a difference with the horn relocation in terms of 0 to 60 or even in the 1/4 mile. Peak intercooler temps do not occur for a number of seconds after a wide open throttle run. Some very smart person actually placed probes in several different locations (incoming air temp, outgoing air temp, and so on)and notice a significant time lapse ( I think it was 15 to 20 sec) before the temp of the incoming air to the intercooler went up. If there is a difference in efficency by relocating the horns it will be most noticable on a place like an autocross or a road course.
