So with the storm yesterday, a board in one of my garage doors went bad. With that I had to reprogram the remotes and our other car. So I erase both buttons on the Homelink in the R, and now it won't program either garage door.
I've tried everything I can think of, key in I and II positions, doors open and closed, read thru posts here, on the homelink site, garage door company site, still nothing.
Anyone else have problems, and what finally worked? TIA

Re: Homelink Blows!!!! (clee)

help if you explain what you are doing...
rolling code garage doors have a button you have to press on the unit itself in order to allow homelink to program itself as well as certain specific steps with the homelink to learn the rolling codes.
usually there is a short time window to do it which makes it easier if you have 2 people. my old garage door was easier to program as i just had to hit the switch on the garage door to allow homelink to work with programming the home link quickly. the new one was more of a pain in the ass and remember it looking like it was programmed but didn't really work. consult owners manual the steps are in there.
iirc: you can program off the remote garage door opener as well and i might have done that, it's been over a year now so sorry i don't remember exactly as i tried a few different things.

Re: Homelink Blows!!!! (clee)

There are several receivers that are not compatible with Homelink like Doorking MicroPlus and Wayne Dalton. I'd call Homelink support.

Rolling codes are tough.
Homelink has been around for over 20-30 odd years and they're exactly the same as they always were.
When I changed my doors to rolling code doors the garage door guy had to re-program the remotes, I couldn't.
You need to reprogram your remotes, but once that is properly done that homelink should program easily.
I've NEVER had a problem with programming a visor and I must have done 20 of them!

My homelink is my cell phone:
Voice command - "Call Home"
Wife answers - "Hello"
Me - "Open the garage door"
Wife - "Why should I you lazy a*s"
Me - "I bought you some Haagen Dazs Rocky Road"
Open-Says-A-Me, works every time.

That sounds like the old school Arctic Auto Start:
Him: Hey there beautiful, what's for breakfast?
Her: Cold cereal, unless my car is running!

My manual says to do the following:
1. The ignition switch must be turned to the "accessory" position (II) before programming the HomeLink® Universal Transceiver.
2. Begin by erasing all 3 factory default channels. Hold down the two outside buttons (buttons 1 and 3 in the illustration) on the HomeLink® Universal Transceiver for about 20 seconds, until HomeLink®'s indicator light begins to flash. Then release the buttons.
3. Hold your hand-held transmitter (garage door opener, for example) 2 to 5 in. (5 to 12 cm) away from the HomeLink® surface, keeping the indicator light in view. For placement questions, contact HomeLink® toll-free 1-800-355-3515 (Internet: http://www.HomeLink®.jci.com).
4. Using two hands, push and hold both your hand-held transmitter's button and the transceiver button you wish to program. The indicator light will flash first slowly, then rapidly. Rapid flashing tells you the HomeLink® button has been successfully programmed. Release both buttons.
To train a rolling code garage door opener, follow these instructions after programming the desired transceiver button.
1. Locate the training button on the garage door opener motor head unit. The location and color of the training button may vary. If you encounter difficulty, refer to the garage door opener owner's manual or call toll-free 1-800-355-3515 (Internet: http://www.HomeLink®.jci.com).
2. Press the "training" button on the garage door opener motor head unit until the "training" light comes on.
3. Press and release the programmed HomeLink® button. Press and release the programmed HomeLink® button a second time to complete the training process. Some garage door openers may require you to do this procedure a third time to complete the training.
The programmed button on your HomeLink® Universal Transceiver should now operate your garage door opener. The original hand-held transmitter can also be used, as desired, to operate the garage door.
