Last night, the V70 was making a HORRIBLE grinding sound. Sounded like metal on metal, coming from the front right. But the odd thing is this: We'd just driven to a bar/restaurant maybe an hour and half previously. No issues. We pull out and head down the road (a block) and take a right. Oddly enough, it starts griding a bit right by the Volvo dealer. It goes away when the brakes apply (thought corrosion somehow?). I continue on and it gets progressively worse. Applying the brakes now lessens it, but doesn't eliminate it. So I jump out to look at what I can (10 at night) and didn't see anything. We're not far from home so I figured I'd limp her home. Thing is, it gets worse and worse and worse until I take a left turn where it starts to diminish....and then go away. And stay away. All in all, maybe for a mile worth of driving? Any ideas?
Info I can think of if any of it applies: '01 V70 T5, lots of moisture lately around here, did the front brakes and rotors (myself) about 10K ago without any issues, 94K on it. Thoughts? Also, I tried turning left and right to see if anything went away. Didn't really seem to make much of an effect....maybe slightly less noise with a turn in both directions? There was a small gravel patch by where we parked?
