Whenever I rev my engine in park or neutral, I hit the fuel cutoff at 4000rpm. That can't be right, why doesn't it go all the way to redline? When I drive and go to pass someone, the transmission won't shift until it 6000 or so rpm. Anybody know why I can't rev past 4000rpm in park or neutral?

Re: Hitting the fuel cutoff (Piglet)

this is a factory designed feature (yes feature!) to protect your engine. other manufacturers implement the same thing.
and yes, more importantly, why are you trying to rev above that limit anyway?
EDIT:
Age: 17....say no more
