On my way down I95 this weekend, I was had the pleasant experience of driving behind a pimped Mitsubishi Galant that kicked up some sort of debris that I think may have been part of a cinder block. I tried to dodge it, and thanks to the nice new suspension from IPD, I managed not to roll the car at 80mph
, but the piece hit the hood and bounced into the windshield then up and over the car.

There's a small chip and some scratches on the windshield, and also two nice gash like dents and scratches in the hood.

Trouble is, I don't think the total damage will cost more than my $500 insurance deductible. I'm going by State Farm later today to check it out, but I'm not hopeful.

Oh well, just wanted to vent.

I've got 2 'star' impacts in my windshield thanks to road debris.

It's always hard to accept random highway carnage like this, but at least it didn't do anything like puncture your nice, new radiator, or smash an expensive headlight unit.

If it would get me over the $500 deductible hump, it might not be so bad. The Rad would have stunk, because I'd have been stuck, but a broken headlight might have given me good reason to order some E-codes from IPD.

That, and if it had to happen, I'm glad it happened to the car that's the "beater" in the family.

Gotta love a good insurance policy. I just got off the phone with State Farm, and as I have a zero deductible, my windshield is going to be repaired and my hood repaired and resprayed for no money out of pocket. Plus, since I'm not opting for the rental car that my policy provides, I get a $10 loss of use payment per day the car is in the shop.

You know, my dad was wondering why I opted for full coverage on such an old car, but for the extra money (it isn't really all that much), it's so worth it.

I was about to ask the same thing. I think it would have been a lot more for me because of age. The problem is that you can't do a lot of damage without the car being totaled. My fender bender that messed up the suspension would have totaled the car, but I had it back on the road for $350.

By the way, I'm hoping to order an e-code conversion from JP Styling sometime this fall, so I might try to arrange a group buy. No set plans at the moment, but the price is better than IPD (by over $100 after shipping) and it includes everything needed (headlights, turn signals, bulbs, trim, & wiring).

The only reason I'd buy from IPD is if they are true Cibie/Volvo lights, but I suspect they're aftermarket.

They do the red clear clear red taillights and rear 245 spoiler also don't they? Let me know if they broaden the scope of that GB.

As for totalling the car, you can always do what Prospero did. You can take the check for replacement of the car and then buy it back from the insurance company.
