A friend of mine who bought a C70 on Saturday (July delivery) told me that there are rumors that Volvo thinks it has seriously underpriced the 2006 C70 (approx. US$38K for the base model) and that it may price the 2007 C70 starting around US$52K. At least some part of this information came from his dealer. Does anyone know whether there is any truth to these rumors? I was thinking about an OSD order for fall delivery--then I saw Yannis' post that there are no more OSD deliveries until 1Q 2007--and then I got this word about a significant price increase. I don't know what to do now, but I know I'm not interested in anything near $50K, let alone above it. For that amount, I could get an Audi S4 cab, which is a substantially better car (except for the roof).

Listing to a slaesman about this is like buying great ocean property from a guy living under a bridge.

That's why there will not be a 35% increase in the base price. If anything the increase will be around what you suggested due to the weaking dollar.

Of course it can compete with the Audi A4 and BMW 3-seires. Actully, I have a friend who has a 3-series convertible and he looked like this: <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://********************/smile/emlove.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/eek.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://********************/smile/emlove.gif" BORDER="0"> when he saw my car. And he was very impressed by the whole car. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/smile.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://********************/smile/emthup.gif" BORDER="0">

I can understand that sentiment for now. Have that same friend drive the C70 against his 3 series and my guess is that the "impression" lessens a bit.<BR><BR>

I was following a post on "volvospy" and saw that the C70 in the UK sells for 38500 Brit.Pound which equals 71,794.7 USD. According to Edmunds, the MSRP for a US C70 is: $38,710 / fully loaded = $48,965. What a difference. I never would pay that much for this car.

My father in law paid $120K for a Jaguar XJ6 in Australia a few years back.

A fully loaded C70 T5 costs ~$70k in Sweden.<p>A XC90 (executive) starts at $80k. S40 T5 awd starts at $40k....<p><br>...and the fuel costs ~$6.5 per gallon. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/rolleyes.gif" BORDER="0"> <p><br>I don't know in the US, but over here a BMW M5 (E60) starts at ~$115k.<p>
