Hi guys,
I want to get HID bulbs but I'm really afraid of getting that diffused look. Instead of a focused beam, like you get from factory hids, im worried that i will end up with something like this

instead of something like this

In the second one the beam seems much more focused and much less scattered. I've seen plenty of pictures of HIDS on our cars but none that I've seen have shown the housing up close to see how the bulb looks in person...
I was thinking of getting sharps kit. Will this result in diffusion of the beam? I dont know if the lens we have in there will be the best for HID...help anyone?

The sharp HID kit is 55w. Your guaranteed to look like a blob of light. Its just sooo much light, should be like day time though.
The only way to get a nice crisp focused beam is to use new projector lenses. Our lenses have dimples in them designed to diffuse the light. You can easily swap out the lesnes for clear ones from another car that has the same size for very cheap ($15 used). I had measured our lenses before but forgot if we had 3" or 2.5" lenses.
I just ordered a kaixen HID kit. Should have no CEL and no problems thanks to a signal processor that responds to the cars voltage output, should be nice. If its not I get to return it w/ free shipping so I have no probs being the guinea pig.

I have the kit from SharpHID and love it. The problem with taking pictures of a bright object is it will almost always look like your pic #1, even though in reality when you are looking at it they are more like pic #2.
I really like how my car looks with the HIDs and feel they are pretty sharp looking (pun intended). and they are a TON better than the stock halogens.
Keep in mind the projection lens diffuses a lot of the light so the 55w kit would be best.

Hmm would someone be able to take a side picture like the one in the BMW of your lights and post it? Just so I can see what it looks like from the side/in real life...

My S80 projectors:

I tried to underexpose the images so you could see the actual light vs a bright blob.

Hmmm. I'll take pics of mine tonight. They look really good, and I don't think mine look like the ones pictured. Any light from a direct shot will look diffused.
Just rest assured that they look awesome and are a marked improvement over the stock halogens in the looks and the performance departments.
