So I ordered an HID kit (7000k) with bulbs, ballasts, etc the whole kit.
When installing them, is there anything that I need to know about the car that could potentially harm the car?
I read something about someones HIDs burning up the wires, but was that due to the way it was installed or is that general problem?

The only reason I can think of the HIDs burning up is because there is too much energy running through it, particularly the cause of a relay. I ordered mine from volvos60t5x, but whenever you do take a picture of the lightbulb housing to determine if it is a h7 or h11. Some of his customers have had h7 bulbs in their s40s. Also when you do order you must have a set of capacitors that are 4700 mikes? 16volts. Note: these will only work with Helios and nothing else. Ill try to post pictures up later.

There are other kits that will work with the S40 but this particular brand will work with the capacitors specs that I have given you. You can order these online or at your local radio shack.

bopmychimbeech - Do you get any error messages with the kit from volvos60t5x? I'd love to see how you installed it.

hi there everybody, the important think is the ECU from the volvo is very special, so you need to be carefully about the hids that you put on the car. The ground of the headlights is the same ground used by the ECU so is important to have it on your mind.
Our kits work perfect on the s40, for perfect work you need to put some capacitors.

The setup is simple, cut a hole through the housing, put the bulb in *BE CAREFUL*, run the wires, plug everything up and fire that up. Only thing is the lights are on all the time but I don't worry about it. If it gets on your nerve tell the dealer to switch them to manual control.
