Re: hi guys, check out my boost gauge setup to go with MBC (mladen)

Hey there...funny I've mounted my boost gauge in the same spot...where there used to be an Apexi AVC-r in a former life...
So, what MBC are you using now and what boost levels were you at before the MBC was installed?
Do you get a CEL because the car can not control the boost the way it wants to, or what?
Cheers,
Prospero

i didnt get a CEL on at all, the original controller is still hooked up, but theres no hoses going to it. if you do want to completely disconnect it for whatever weird reason you can put a relay in there but i just left it alone.
i am using a AMS boost controller...stock psi was at 9.5 or so, and now its up to 14.5

Re: (mladen)

hmmm isnt it kinda bad to drive at WOT, and look down at the center console to see how much boost your running? its kinda dangerous IMO...
I think a setup on the pillar or behind the steering wheel is better so when you do look, you only have to look down slightly but you can see your speed, rpm, temp etc..

Re: (mladen)

Ah, that's cool. These cars are strange since I've seen them go both ways with an MBC installed. Some get a CEL and some don't.
Mine was happy with just the MBC and the boost control valve installed; with no CEL.
So, are you going to angle the gauge towards you to get the best viewing angle on that thing...or are you able to read it as it is?
I've been experimenting on heating the plastic and getting it to conform so the angle is better. But I don't suggest tossing the entire coin holder assembly into an oven...it could get ugly. I decided to use ABS plastic and then that will be fiberglassed into the assembly to give it a custom look.
Good job on the setup!
Cheers,
Prospero

Re: (dragon17)

I like mine where it's at since it's clean looking and rather benign. Also...I have a memory function so that I can recall the peaks vs. stare at it while accelerating.
Also, I am all about being discrete and a boost gauge out it the open is cause enough for some people to mess with you. When I'm driving in traffic and relaxing...the last thing I need is a kid in a WRX to hector me for having a boost gauge and 3" exhaust. Getting fired up in the morning and creaming a WRX can be stressful and I'm already going bald as it is.
So, IMHO...clean and neat is just fine...even if it is less than ideal.
Cheers,
Prospero

i can see mine fine, and it is angled a little bit towards me...but its not like ure staring at the thing for 5 mins, all it takes is a split second glance.
