I will be moving to the area in a couple of months and was wondering which Volvo dealerships are the best ones around? I am hoping to have a chip and exhaust by the time I am out there and need a place that doesnt frown on that kind of stuff for warranty work/etc. On a side note, how strict are the smog tests there? Lol I dont think my truck will be street legal there...thanks guys.

If you listen to Frank Hoffy, it's Topping Volvo in Olympia for easy aftermarket upgrades. Depending on where you are moving to, this can be a LONG drive just to service a car - a little over an hour from downtown Seattle with no traffic. There are a lot of Puget Sound area dealers to choose from (six that I can think of at the moment). Seattle is definitely a Volvo town.
Let me be the first to say welcome. Our next gathering will be in July and will be a detailing tech session. More details later.
WRT your question about mods and the dealerships, it is a fine line for them and for Volvo. If a modded car has a problem that has not cropped up on any other car, and the mod could be a causative factor, then Volvo probably won't cover the problem under the warranty. On the-other-hand, if the problem has been seen before on unmodded cars, it is much more likely that Volvo will cover the problem under warranty. This is not an unreasonable situation. So, be aware that some mods carry more risk with respect to warranty coverage. However, there have been few cases of modded cars having problems, too.

Ravenna is pretty good and my experience with Barrier hasn't been bad unless they want to do something out of warranty then that's when they hit you with their markups.
I have to ask...I know that Amazon just acquired a company from Madison. You, by any chance, would not be part of this would you?
Welcome to Seattle. It's an amazing place. People drive normal here, people are friendly, the weather isn't as bad as people would have you believe unless you are from California then tell them that it's horrible. Tell them that we only see the sun about 28 days of the year and that they should stay south of Oregon.
If you like beer then mmmm. I don't think I've drank as much beer since college than I have out here. Lot's of good micro-breweries if you are into that sort of thing.

Small place, but very friendly. Plus there are pubs and coffee shops with wi-fi acess all around the area so killing time is pretty easy. Although I'm not sure how open they are to modding.

Re: hey Seattle guys... (dgloveR)

Thanks guys for all the info!!
I wont be there till about the end of July, but I wanted to get my foot in the door. I have heard some things about the dealers there, but I wanted to make sure because I have many visions of my S60...but I still want the warranty.
Hey dgloveR, nope sorry I dont work for Amazon, wish I did, maybe I wouldnt have to work so much then! Do you know what company they bought? I am interested to see what it is. Yea, I've been there twice and its weird about how friendly people are there, I'm not used to it at all. I hope people dont think I'm a jerk. Lol. And yea, the beer thing...I'm from wisconsin...nuff said. I am gonna miss some of the micro-breweries here though.
Anyway thanks again guys, I cant wait till I'm out there! I'm hoping there is a GTG in August sometime so I can meet some of you guys.
