Hey everybody - new to this site and so far it looks great. My last Swedish car was a Saab 9-3 Aero and SaabCentral was great. It looks like this forum will be as well.

I bought my first R in August of last year...2005 Silver with everything except Nav. Had my first accident ever on Thanksgiving when I hit a guy in a Toyota truck at 50mph when he decided to take a right turn from the center lane. 6 weeks later I had my R back. Three weeks later I traded my 05 for a new 06 R in Electric Silver with EVERYTHING, and added the body kit. LOVE THIS CAR. LOVE IT!!!!

BUT - they made some small changes in the 06's. It has the 6 speed tranny, and the pre-charged all wheel drive. Funny thing is tho...my 06 seems so much slower than my 05. Still fast...but not a throw your head back fast that my 05 was.

It seems to me the new 6speed is sticking between 2-3 gears when in sport mode. I asked the dealer and they did a diagnostic, and they said it's just the way the tranny shifts.

I was wondering if it's just my car or if any others with 06's have noticed the same thing. I'm an enthusiast with a lot of cars under my belt...so I know i'm not just imagining it.

Also - I'm trying to get BSR to let me use the PPC that i bought for my old R in my new R. They are not so cooperative. When i PPC'd my SAAB it was night and day - but I could not tell much dif with the Volvo. All it seemed to do is make the turbo noise louder.

Anyway...glad I found this forum!

Sorry guys...I meant the six speed Automatic - which is new for 06. And when I was comparing, it was in stock format - not tuned. I always run 91 in it. Can't find 94 in CA.

Ok...to answer all the questions, or at least try.

1. I am comparing 5 Speed Auto to 6 Speed auto. I think it might seem smoother/slower as the Haldex is now precharged. I think this makes the acceleration a bit smoother as the all wheel drive is smoother as it picks which wheels for traction.

2. I was not hurt in the least. If fact...I barely felt anything during the hit. It was quite amazing...hence the new 06 Volvo.

I'm kind of a hard driver with a heavy foot...but the gas mileage is terrible...and 3.0 as gallon doesnt' help. But it's better than the 3.5 a gallon a few months ago. I will gladly pay for the fun this car is.

I'll post pics soon. Very few Electric silver cars with the body kit. for some reason Volvo did not make that color available painted form the factory. $1995.00 dealer option- versus 1800.00 for the parts and 1000.00 painted and installed.

Oh well...

I'm not nuts, btw.

Some guys here make me smile. Basically BSR has said i need to buy a new one. Which after two purchase, i am not happy with. I mean, i only ran the BSR on my car for a few weeks - but i did not like the sound of the turbo after and actually felt it ran better stock.

My transmission seems to be doing the same as your V70R. When the 05 model in was in sport mode (trans or Advanced buttons pushed), the immediate accelleration and shiftings were so precise - you would always know exactly there the gear was, and the "punch the accellerator kick down" worked well. In the new one, the up and down shifts are haphazzard at best. I asked them if there were any tranny updates or to flash it and reprogram it. They said they did not see an issue.

It's not that big of a deal, but at some point i will have a vovlo rep look at it if it doesn't get any better. I only have 1200 miles on my new one - so i'm giving it a bit of time for break in.

Another thing is the Mode buttons. In the 05, Advanced Sport and the Sport button for the tranny operated independantly. In the 06, when you press Advanced Sport, the Sport Tranny light comes on and cannot be disabled. Just a bit of trivia.
