I remember back, someone told me that it was a REAL PITA, cause just to get to the lights, you had to take off the bumper, and then to undo the glue, then re glue the light assy together again, etc etc etc.
Anyone ever been successful doing it?
pix?

Re: Hey, anyone ever try to do the clear corner mod??? (Dj Schmidty)

ive been thinking of trying this as well; removing the reflector, bondo'ing in the recessed area, then painting the silver surround black...
but if it's that much of a hassle, i'd rather not.

I'll never understand why anyone would go through that just to have the white reflector.
Re: Hey, anyone ever try to do the clear corner mod??? (Cicada)

It can and has been done by some. Its a real PITA though (unless you're comfortable with pulling the bumper off and then opening up and sealing lights). In other words, its not really an afternoon project. Its more like a long weekend project for the well rehearsed.
-Eric

http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=61790.
Pretty straightforward to do, but the bondoing is time consuming if you want it done right. I haven't found the time to finish the project.

Cicada-
i too wanted to change the orange reflectors. i looked into it quite a bit. it is a PITA. to ge the lights off the front bumper comes off = PITA.
also, you can't just open up the lights, you have to heat them up, break the seal, and put them back together. a lot of people who have attemtpe this wind up getting condensation in their lights.... again - PITA.
euro conversion is the cleanest way to go..but it's a lot of money. for most people...too much to justify the gain in looks.
the best/cheapest solution i have found is adding tint or adhesive to the OUTSIDE of the lens. i found some white/silver perforated adhesive that i cut to shape and stuck on the outisde of the lens. from 10' away you can't even see it..and it looks like euro lenses. up close you can see i have a sticker on... so it's not super clean..but at $10 or so..it's super cheap..and they peel right off if i ever get tired of the look. easily reversible..pratically free.
you canf ind the adhesive online..it has tons of little holes in it..so when thelight blinks. the light comes right through it.
i've also considered painting them....
it has also been contemplated that a glass or plactic cover could be made that would snap over the headlights, that would have a silver/painted section that would cover the amber..almost like "snap on" clears....
lots of solutions....but many fo them expensive and time intensive.
if money is no object, get euro lenses.
my method, while cheap, and somewhat "ghetto"....is very subtle....you only see it if you KNOW it's there. the average person who glances at my car, never sees or knows I hav the adhesive there
here you go:
ugly up close

but much harder to spot if you look from a few feet away.

in the garage, in lower light..almost invisible...

i paid about $30 or so for a huge roll of this stuff. i could do my car 5 times with it. the stuff i put on has lasted for at least a YEAR...through rainstorms and washing the car too...VErY durable stuff.
i can find the link to the shop i ordered it from if anyone wants it.
