I recently installed sparkplugs (OEM) in my 03 V70 2.4T and I noticed an issue that has started about 2 weeks later. (This may not be related.) Sometimes the starter turns over for quite a while before starting the car- and when it does start it takes a moment for the idle to stabilize (the car runs roughly for a few seconds). Other times the car starts immediately and normally. Once started, the car usually runs smoothly. Once in a while, the engine will shake for a moment inexplicably when at idle speeds. I have already posted about this but nobody had any input- perhaps these issues are related?!!
ANY help would be appreciated!!!

Did you gap the plugs correctly?

Re: (MadeInJapan)

Even though people say you're not supposed to have to gap plugs these days - I check them anyway. I checked them and they were all gapped to 0.030" so I didn't change the gap since the manual says "0.028- 0.032 in."

Re: (66revolver)

More information: this happens pretty reliably every 5 or so times I try to start the car. I can sit and start the car several times in a row and if the first start is normal, the next two or three will be progressively worse. If the first start was rough and the starter needed to crank for quite some time I can usually shut the car off and it will start nicely the next time. This made me suspect something odd with the timing but this is not exactly adjustable... I'm at 95k and the timing belt is not supposed to require replacement until 105k, but even still- I took a look at the belt and it appears to be in good shape.
