Well tomorrow morning I take my car in for the 3rd time to get this and the automatic wipers fixed (also 3rd time).
Does anyone else have a similiar situation?
Of course they are not related, but has anyone else suffered from this?

how bad is it? no boost at all, or does it take a long time to spool.
if it takes a long time to spool, or doesn't quite get up there...check for boost leaks...maybe a loose vacuum line.

Re: (phuz)

Somebody needs to state the obvious:
Get a boost control solenoid and replace it yourself if they "can't reproduce the problem" or fix it this time.
At worst you blew $50 and now have a spare for when it does go bad. Trust me it will.
At best you will have found and fixed the problem yourself and possibly saved yourself a dealer trip.
That was worth $50 for me and it did miracles. I had to re-learn to drive the car, shifts were too smooth and it moved the powerband sweetspot around in each gear.

Feels like you're pushing through a wall in the low RPMs in every gear. And then boost comes on all at once after you punch through about 3-3.5k. Not linear at all and a royal PITA to drive.
This is not the launch bog necessarily, although a bad BCS will make that horrendously worse too.

Re: (MMIV R)

You did get the Volve ECU patch for the '04s way back when, right?
If not I'm sure they would have caught this on a previous visit given your symptoms... But it's worth asking about if you're not sure.

Doesn't sound like that is MMIV's problem though unless he had the replacement fail in 7k miles.

You could install titanium blades and port/polish the turbo and manifolds. This will definitely help reduce lag/hesitation.

I've driven several cars with HPT that had far worse lag / power on situations than the R (Daytona, Talon / Eclipse)

if somneone is having a problem with boost..would installation of ab oost gauge give them a way to diagnose this? you would see boost PSI be too low at certain rpms...???

Re: (23109VC)

UPDATE -
Picked up car earlier tonight from dealer - on work order:
"Hook up VST read and fault trace code ECM 000B - found misfire cylinders 5&4 - replace faulty ignition coils - test - no further fault present."
Drive home ... 'she felt like she's straight off the boat'
My car hasn't driven this good in a long time!
*** word to the wise ... I got the service manager involved ***
ps. The rattle in the dash was fixed as well as the rain sensor wipers now work correctly.

Re: (MMIV R)

Glad to hear it is now resolved. Kudo's to the tech that finally took the initiative to fix the guys car who ultimately pays his salary!
If only there was the initiative to do this on first trip, a classroom plug and play diagnostic and repair, and without intervention from the service manager.
I do not recall other cases of failed coils on these cars, at least mentioned on this board.
