Wonder how much the front half of the turbo cost? Oldman,<p>This is some hope inspiring news. As long as it bolts up, maybe will will see some new stages that include turbo upgrades. Not that I even remotely need the power but I'd like to see some Stages that push the power over 300.

Not worth the money IMO. You will also need a new clutch and maybe different drivetrain? also cranks and other interiors cant handle that much power... if you want +300 hp car just buy STI/EVO ?<br>plain stupid to put so much money into this car<p>and lol even if you put all that money into it. a chipped sti/evo will still eat you. cool

You are correct on there is no need to put that much into these cars. But it is fun. Plus it is not always about trying to make the fastest car. Just a faster V50. And besides the STI/EVO look like crap.

yeah like I heard Mustangs eat me, but I've beaten a slew alread, I've heard SRT-4s will eat me yet two races so far and there were will within drivers error. EVO / STI you make like these cars are god's creation, unlike a magazine racer, I've worked on both and they break and they are expensive to fix. IMO a 300 HP volvo would be a MUCH more dependable car. What does 4wd get you but compication, drag and weight, it means nothing from a roll.

there's no point in compring an STI or Evo to a 300hp S40. <p>Only true car fans love the Evo's and sti's, and you all know that's pretty close to fact. A 300hp S40 on the other hand would be, well, a 300hp S40... and to me, that's just COOL. <p>I love the Evo and was about to buy one a year ago. Then I realized how pretentious they are. If an S40 could get 300hp, it would have great performance, AND a great interior and a stylistic simplicity, which an Evo or Sti just doesn't.<p>

Funny how the EVO is being compared to a Volvo here. Friend of mine down in Portland has an Evo. I had seen it but never driven it. He brought up to Vancouver back in February, and tossed me the keys. Now, something to know about me. Before I bought my V50, I had never owned a car newer than 1987. <p>So, I drive the EVO, and grin the whole damn time. That second, I realised that all wheel drive, 6 speed, turbo cars are pretty damn cool. I also realised that my brother's plain jane Nissan Altima was about 3 times nicer car than an EVO. Considering his Nissan is half the car a Volvo is, you start to see why I bought a V50, and not some Scrapanese rocket. It is not always about going super fast, but it is about going fast enough, while doing it in style. <p>If I want to go super fast, AND in super style, I will drop a TCD turbo on my 77 BMW 630csi. THAT would be cool.<p> Al

K04 came stock in the 225hp TT's (180's had K03s).<p>Edit: and what's wrong with wanting 300hp in their car? I do. would I do it to this one? I doubt it due to AWD but i would support anyone trying it.<p>And if a stock 1.8T can handle aprox. 400hp I think the T5 can handle it.

K04 has come in a bunch of cars from k04-10 to K04-25s I got no idea of what K04 is in the Volvo except it looks like the one pictured above. We know that the K04 head being used HAS to come from some current or near future OEM car, only two come to mind as the S4 has two unique looking K04-Rs, that would be the 2.0 FSI ranging from 197 to 260 HP or the S40 from like 218 to 230 ish or whatever is in the focus II. The may all be the same turbo for all I know, one would assume that the 260 HP A3 may have a slightly bigger turbo. We just don't know, but we do know that this K04 is capable of 300 BHP and has a huge chance fo being able to bolt up to the integrated S40 manifold. So say a sub $1000 upgrade and 100% stock looking with near stock spool and MPG.

There was a swedish site btw that offered a stage 4 for s40 t5. That included "turbo modification" ill try to find that site

I remember reading somewhere that the S40 has the same drivetrain as the S60, and the S60R has 300HP. I don't see why we can't hit 300 without changing much more than the computer, turbo and exhaust.

I got some information from Japan on the Mazda Axela => mazda speed 3 here curb weight 1390 kg and the Focus ST 1430 kg or 3212 lbs. So these cars are close to my S40 T5's weight of 3256 lbs. BTW the Focus ST was ranked as the number 3 most desirable car in Japan and I could not find the S40 or Axela on the top 50 list at all.
