I'm in the process of changing my moms spark plugs on her 04' XC70, and when I took off the OTE pipe i noticed a fair amount of oil/gunk built-up around the couple on the turbo and down by the intercooler. There is also oil residue on the outside ends of the OTE pipe itself. What does this mean? is it bad? is there something I need to do to fix this? Thanks(I figured I'd post here because it gets the most traffic, and the engines are pretty similar.)

I guess its normal to get very little to little oil there. Pictures would tell alot more.

Excessive blow-by could be the caused by clogged pcv system (dont know what its called on the turbos, but I believe it's the flame trap on N/A Volvos. But yes, we need to see how much oil we're talking about. It could be completely normal...
