okay so i went to autozone asked around and was assured that if i used engine degresser my car would be fine... so i headed to the car wash taped and covered up my air intake and sprayed away then washed it all clean. I then maticulusly whipped out all the water standing on the engine and completely cleaned out the air box (i have it open) and of course the car wont start.
It really scares me too like the car will turn over once or twice then die with a backfire out of the intake (blue smoke coming out from the fliter)... I really really hope that this is just a water logged engine and will dry out in a day or so!
But what do you guys suggest i do????!!!

You can't spray water on the top and rear on the engine.
You'll need plugs, maybe wires and maybe a rotor
(Happened to me, I learned the hard way too)

Wet ignition. Don't panic. It may not be as dire as you think.
Open the distributor cap to drain out any collected water, give the inside of the cap a shot of WD-40, and let everything dry out for several hours, with the hood open. If significant water has collected in the plug wells, you may need to lift the plastic cover to get the water out before it will start. You can run into bigger problems if you let some parts sit in water too long. But once it gets up and running, you will evaporate it all away in 20 minutes.
It's ok to get the engine wet. Just don't spray excessive amounts around the ignition and intake systems when you're cleaning it.

Yes. Distributor cap.
Ignition and fuel delivery are entirely separate systems.
You can spray WD-40 into the plug wells, but I think that is a waste of WD-40.

One has nothing to do with the other, these cars are like old cars, plugs, wires and rotors. It's a miricle that they don't still use points
850's and 98's still use a cap and a rotor and if he's still talking about this, his plugs are probably soaked and shot by now.
You might just try to fire it up today, it may start, if it does, RUN it for a couple of hours.
You're still going to have to remove the top cover and at least blow the water out of there.

Re: (inlineking)

BTW, what kind of plugs did they put in?
Hopefully not Autolites or Champions. Perhaps they had some class and gave you NGKs.
I think these engines run best on the French-made Volvo branded plugs, but they're not cheap. If it was a dealer, that's what you likely got.
