Greetings you guys and gals. I know you've missed the UNO. I'm happy to report that I haven't had any problems with my car at all. It actually been very nice not to have to go to the dealer every other week.

Sorry, I haven't been posting. I've been busy on an unrelated forum. No it's not a porn forum, but another forum that is just as adicting. I'm in the process of rebuilding a 1974 FJ 40 Landcruiser. The project is a complete frame off restoration. I'll be putting in a LT1 350 with a NV 4500 transmission, a 4" lift and 35" tires and a complete body paint/bodywork job.

If you've never restored a car, I would suggest trying it. It's quite the adventure and learning experience. Plus the benefit is that you get to get away from your regular routine and spend quality time with friends who want to help out.

It amazes me that you can get good quality of labor for a case of beer and an Saturday afternoon BBQ.

Nevertheless, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far.

Best,

UNO

Plus, it goes through money faster than putting a torch to your wallet or handing your Visa Card to a crack addict. Plus the benefit is that you get to get away from your regular routine and spend quality time with friends who want to help out. Only problem is that your family will think your nuts and your wife will swear that there's not a car out in the barn, there's a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader that's how often you're out there.

Welcome back, UNO. I have partially restored 1 car (1969 Pontiac LeMans Convert.) and quit at that one after the money ran out. Hey, I was in College. It was fun, but I think you really meant to say it the way it's quoted above.

Good luck and post pics in the Car Lounge when it's done! http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

VERY COOL project. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif
The early 70's Land Cruisers are some of the most unique and recognizable vehicles. A buddy of mine has restored a few of them and has quite a "stable" of neat vehicles. Good luck with the project & keep us posted.

Love the change you made. It's so true, my Visa has burned a hole in my wallet it's so hot. I'm thinking by the time this thing is done, I'll have to refinance my house and make it up to the wife somehow. I hope she gets the same effect that I do when all four whees are spinning on the pavement.

I read someplace one time that when estimating the price of an auto restoration, you have to figure in an extra $20k or so for the 3 carat "I'm sorry" ring.

Welcome back. I have a partially restored 1946 CJ-2A Willyz. It has been a fun project but I have debated selling it as it is very hard to find parts. Look forward to the pictures as that is a beautiful car. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

If I do replace it, definately a 3rd Gen. RX-7 with an LS1 heart transplant.

My wife get's the 3 inch carat a the very least on a weekly basis. I actually feel quite sorry for myself. Perhaps I should invest in some type of implant. I think $20K will give me about a 10" carat..... Then she'll be happy....

But you're NOT restoring it, you're making a HOT ROD.
Cool anyway

Thanks for pointing that out.

Correction, I'm modresotring it. It will have a RV cam and the motor will specifically designed for torque. It will have plenty of top end too...but the torque is what's important.

I am sorry to hear that. Perhaps you should try Austin Power's "Swedish pump." Good Luck on your auto restoration project...

Kirb,

Have you had luck with the "Swedish Pump" aka "cracker pump". I was thinking about the "African American Pump". Folks have told me those things are the best and provide the most groovy satisification.

Friend on mine many years ago has an old Jeep GJ5 (circa mid 70's)
He installed a 327 chevy with a 3 speed automatic (350). Huge paddded roll cage and some other goodies.
He forgot brakes the first time around, that thing was SO FAST but it didn't stop worth a crap
(Almost missed a turn)
He recified that the next month.
Anyhow, a V8 in one of those FJ's should be neat
