Long time forum browser first time poster. I currently drive a 2007 S40 2.4l. I love my car but just have a few questions.

First, I tried to search this but to no avail. I am having to replace two bulbs in my tail lamps. One is the outside running light on my driver's side. The other is the AUX light on the lower passenger side. Does anyone know the OEM # for either of these bulbs? Just making sure I grab the right ones.

Secondly, I am starting to hear a slight popping noise that is only heard when hard breaking or when my suspension is going over a bit of a rough spot. I have heard that this could be caused by a ill-fitting bolt or screw but wanted to get other's opinions before I took my car into the dealership.)

Third, I am wanting to repaint all four knobs on my center console (Volume, A/C control, etc.) Also, I am wanting to repaint the piece that covers the door handle. The long piece on the doors that house the window buttons. Is there an easy way to remove these without breaking them?

Thanks in advance and I am glad to finally post! Cheers!

To remove the door handle piece, this is what I did.

1. The first thing you need to do is to pull off the black plastic cover on the back of the door handles. They come off pretty easily. I used my fingernails. Pull away horizontally.
2. Place a flat head screwdriver like so and give a few quick sharp blows to release the clips. Work down the length of this panel.
3. The clips, in yellow, are located in 5 places on the rear door handle. Position the screwdriver accordingly.
4. When the panel is released, look under it and disconnect the power window switch. You can set the panel aside.

As for the bulbs, you should just remove them and read the description stamped on the metal. Or go to Autozone and match the bulbs on display there. I don't even know the numbers off hand.
You might want to look at the manual here but it probably won't be much help.

The bulb info is in your owners manual, you can pick up the bulbs form any auto part store.

To get the handles off:

To get the waterfall out:

To access the control nobs:

The nobs will just pop off the panel once you get to this point. Just be very careful when removing them, if you break them, it could get costly.
