Re: HEICO SPORTIV HS4 ODIN in AutoWeek ([email protected] SPORTIV NA)

Starting with S60R’s T5 mechanicals, the Borg Warner turbocharger is enlarged and capable of 17.4 psi pressure at its peak vs. the S60R at 14.5 psi. A big BMC carbon fiber air box gulps wind directly, and there is a high-capacity intercooler in place. Helping get this much power and torque to the front axle is a new variable-locking differential developed with Quaife. A lighter, stronger GKN driveshaft and CV joints created specifically for Volvos help get all the juice to the road without disintegrating.
note that this is a Quaife while the Hieco one is a clutch based. And they have a new turbo for it..
Yeah that car is an interesting animal for sure, but here is what I don't get:

But this is a racer that privateers with the bucks can order if they like—for around $150,000—so the roughness over occasional weather strips didn’t faze us.
For that kind of money I could easily get a factory race ready Audi S4, BWM M3, or Porsche GT3 car. Not to mention a proven race platform.

This is a bit like the $1000 toilet seat on a submarine...if you only make 3, that's what GD charges the DOD for them.
It's legitimately a ton of money to duplicate this car again, as with a prototype of anything, but we're looking at possibly offering ODIN-styled parts for street use, without the heavy engine mods + without the fully adjustable racing suspension, gutted interior, etc.
Moving the engine mounts, swapping turbo's, etc etc is far beyond what people would want to do commercially...we know that...ODIN's purpose is to show what HEICO is capable of on the Show circuit, but also has to serve as the HEICO racecar for this year, so it's doing double-duty.
We're not trying to make GT3R's.
