Hi,

I need to replace the heater core as I'm getting smell of coolant when I turn the heater on and losing coolant albeit small amounts.
I've replaced the heater core in my old 850 yrs ago and that wasn't to much trouble. Is the 2004 V70 R any different? Anyone had to do this yet? Any write ups? The trim removal looks more complicated that the 850 to start with.

Any tips/tricks appreciated

Cheers
Stew

Your core is fine. The O-rings for the lines at the core go south and leak in the P2 cars. Just replace them with fresh ones and you're most likely good to go. Do it before the leaking coolant (which is currently soaking the foam on your drivers rug) takes out your 4C module that's mounted to the drivers side drivetrain tunnel.
ps..cut/pull the clips out of the lines and replace with well lubed new ones. Job is easier with long straight and angled needle nose pliers.
