who else here loathes the heat and the power killing ability that 107 degree days, which the great city of dallas seems to have pretty much every day now. so how much is that aquamist system? it looks more inviting every time I punch the throttle and go nowhere
disclaimer: sorry Im bored at work and just wanted to get that off my chest

Re: heat rant (tayk47)

Mistral is one person I know of that installed Aquamist on the S40.
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=42148
This is when he only had an exhaust upgrade. You can see from the graph that from 3500RPM he lost power with Aquamist but less than 3500RPM there is a big HP gain. I'm sure it works great on his car now that he has a custom MTE tune.
I not sure how Aquamist will behave on cars with BSR so I haven't gone into that realm yet.

Re: heat rant (volvoNB)

you would think since the chipped cars run even higher boost there would be more err I mean less powerloss with the mist vs stock boost and power levels, there is just more headroom with a stock car.

Re: heat rant (Oldman)

i remember having some discussion about those graphs at the time.. and the consensus was it oculd have been something to do with the ECu going from close to open loop.
the other thing i realise, since doing a lot more dyno testing, is that the dyno numbers under around 2800 cannot be taken into account, because the auto trans hasnt locked up yet.

the fact is though, that WI by itself wont really generate much power, because any gains that you get from cooling the charge air is offset by the fact that WI is making the AF mixture richer.
after tuning, its great. i have had friends with similar set ups who have driven my car (and mine theirs) and you can feel the difference post 4k which is when the WI kicks in for me now. its almost like a very small turbo as you can feel the engine get a 2nd wind.
over here, the 1s system set me back about US$600, including installation.

Re: heat rant (eafenyes)

yes the climate control defeats the heat very well. the auto climate control is awesome

Re: heat rant (Mistral)

I was going to point that out, but thought you would think I was picking on you, but yes your dyno runs show the flashing of the converter not gains in midrange torque from WI or CAT.
