Motorweek Review

quote:
MotorWeek #2204
With Host John Davis
PBS Broadcast Window Begins September 27, 2002
Roadtest of the 2003 Volvo XC90
Roadtest of the 2002 Mini Cooper S
Although it may not turn out to be a subjective review of the XC90 (as Motorweek almost always gives glowing reviews to each and every vehicle it tests), it would most likely be one of the first reviews where the XC90 is shown in action.

Saw the review and it was pretty comprehensive. And as expected, Motorweek liked the XC90 . They did a pretty good job of showing most, if not all the unique safety features that the XC90 had, like the RSC and the boron roof. They had no comments about the transmissions, excepthat you only get one or the other depending on the engine (we all knew that). They tested a T6 which zoomed from 0 to 60 mph in 8.8 seconds. I think that's pretty good for a vehicle as substantial as an XC90 (there goes that 2.5T option for me, well, until a test drive ).
For those opting for the 7-seating configuration, you'll be glad to know that the 2nd row seats are also configurable fore-and-aft, i.e the 2nd row seats can be individually adjusted to go forwards and backwards. That should give a bit more legroom for the 3rd row passengers. Also, from the footage, it seems that there is substantial cargo space even with the 3rd row seats up.
It was great to see the XC90 in motion and it does look better than most SUVs out there.

Re: (crikey)

Can someone tell me what they thought of the Mini? My dad is seriously thinking about purchasing one for his next car. See, he drives 500+ miles to work every weekend then stays there during the week to drive another 500 home. Right now he uses our Suzuki Swift which is my car. He fell in love with that car so he wants another car that is safe, new, and powerful(anything is compared to the 70hp in the Swift). This will be his new toy to drive. He has already saved 14k, he plans to pay for it in full after seeing how much car payments can be a pain when he was paying for 2 volvos at the same time, and we are going to take a test drive today at a local dealership.
