Is there a way to remove the headlight wipers? To me they seem pretty useless. If it can be done, is there someplace that sells a piece to cover the hole that the wiper comes out of?

Look for an early volvo that didn't have the option headlight washers because those don't have the cut out and are solid replacement. good luck finding them.

yes....there are two bolts are holding each of them to the subframe, then there is a nut on the bottom side of the wiper arm...if you don't want to keep the wipers, you can just break the arms off and throw them away...if you want to keep them, carefully bend the wiper up to expose the nut under the cap and then unscrew the nut...this will allow you to remove the wiper arm from the metal rod...
The hard part is getting it out of the car....I had to take out the passenger side headlight and then loosened the subframe to get enough clearance to remove the actual wiper motor...
FCP Groton and Vlvworld (as well as most dealerships) have the solid headlight molding...its usually comes primered, so you'll need to paint it your body color...

Not the subframe... but the radiator support frame. Big difference.
And make a few bucks. Sell the parts you removed on here!.
