The owner of Volvospeed did an HID conversion on the 850-Series, it should be pretty close to the 70-Series, check it out below.
HID Coversion for 850-Series
-Drew
[This message has been edited by InDy (edited 12-01-2001).]

And they had that real HID conversion for a long time, too. It is not just possible to find the bulbs you want for the fog light, it is not a big deal. Just find the right type/size for whichever ones you want to replace.

Ah, okay cool. Well does Volvospeed have the parts for the conversion ? He lists tools needed but not where he got the kit.
Are you saying that I can or cannot find the fog light bulbs ?

I don't remember either it's a H3 or H1....any boy racer shops would carry it or any part store. It's not biggy...you can probably install them on your car w/n 10 mins.

There are quite a few HID Xenon kits selling on Ebay right now for about $400 in all different size bulbs and different color temps.

-Drew

If you want great light intensity and color without emptying your wallet you can buy APC Super white bulbs for your S70...they are a H7 bulb and they cost 29.99 I just bought a pair and I am very pleased with the result. I am still doing the research on the foglights...I am trying to find a perfect match...will let you know if I find them.
de Jong

You always beat me to post something that I was thinking about doing. Yeah...that angel eyes conversion with clear corner lenses was selling around 1400 on some site that I was looking at few days ago. If I am lucky enough to find a good deal on a used E39 in the next few weeks, that was going to be my first 'upgrade' along with the 2001 tail light conversion.
Hey, Drew...have you check out this site http://www.jimmy540i.com/ ? Pretty sick ride....

To look cool or for a high lightoutput? If you want the cool looking blue hue like the Audis and X5s, then get the highest color temp bulb. But your light output will suffer dramatically. If you want a good high lightoutput , I'd stick with the 4300K bulbs.
I don't recommend hids4less.com, check out the Philips forums, bad things about them.
Try www.autolamps-online.com, groupbuycenter.com has a groupbuy on HID conversion kit. Also, you can try AUDIO LINKS 201-420-6792 from 11am to 6pm new york time. Ask for Freddie. He handles a lot of HID sales from the Maxima board.
Also you might want to consider E-code headlights to correct the beam pattern. You can get them from Tim Watkins – Precision Volvo – (978) 948-7778; independent Volvo tech $100.00 / piece
Hope this helps...
[This message has been edited by mike_c70 (edited 12-03-2001).]
[This message has been edited by mike_c70 (edited 12-03-2001).]

I think you have just found an even cheaper source for the E-code lenses than Frank at European Sport Tuning, but I think he might be able to meet that price. I might give them a call or so...

Yeah, beside the kickarse turbo M3 he's got, this guy also did a Valentine 1 rardar + mirror kit. I was thinking about getting that, just didn't know how it would look like in my C70.

This is totally getting off subject, but what the heck. This 3-series looks damn sweet with 'blue' angel-eyes. I think this person did it with fiber-optic cable, but I can't remember exactly.

Kai,
Yeah, I have read about Jimmy's 540i a while ago, it is a very slick ride, but I think he gets like 9 mpg or something crazy like that. It seems like he spent a TON of money on that car (over 100k total+car), when he could have just gotten a new M5. I guess that doesn't make sense to me, at least. I think he has got some people who don't like him because of the 'bulbs' he sells or something like that. Also, I know he gets a lot of crap on Bimmer.Org for having that 4.4i badge on the side of his car, taken from an X5. Oh well, to each his own right, but it is a damn fast car.
-Drew

The lights he was selling are junk~! Can't believe someone spent so much money on his car and would use that kinda cheap bulbs on it just so he can make some money selling the r1ce bulbs.
At first the car was kinda inspirational, but when he started to sound like a 10 yr old as he bragged about he is the only one in the US got so many 'Dinan Points'...I kinda started feeling sorry for the kid. Surely Dinan's got some very cool products, but they are not the cheapest source you can buy for the same stuff you can find elsewhere.
Almost sounded like....'Yeah, I'm the one pay the most money to Dinan, no one else has spent as much as I have.' I think I will still take an M5 over a SC 540. M5 should have some more room left for improvement.

I have a Nissan and here I am at a Volvo place. Well I guess that is not true. I haven't finished digging the hole to bury my dead 745. Not really but it is still sitting in my driveway. Does anyone want it? It is a real piece of crap because it breaks down a lot. The turbo is a year old though so I guess you could by it as a parts car.

quote:
Originally posted by The_one_n_only:

Yeah, beside the kickarse turbo M3 he's got, this guy also did a Valentine 1 rardar + mirror kit. Nobody would care that you have a BMW mirror. They would be too busy drooling over the V1 display inside the mirror.
