Heading to the drag strip

This Saturday 9/1 Lebanon Valley NHRA strip (in NY) and wondring if anyone wants to go?

I'm going up with several cars incl a WRX, Vr6 GTI, supercharged VR6 Jetta, Turbo NX2000 and maybe more.

Should be fun!!!!

Just had a tranny flush with mobil one synthetic so the car is a ready to roll!

I was really thinking we should have a fall shootout of Swedespeed, Audiworld and VWvortex

Done on a Wednesday night "king of street" run what you brung kinda scenario. Lebanon Valley or NE Dragway both have Wed night events!

That sounds like a really good idea for a story that could be used on all three sites. It would be very cool to see some Swedes and Germans running against one another.

That's a pretty cool idea, though I'd bet the Skandinavian Metal would be quite outnumbered. Still, we would hold our own.

Driving the R now with the exhaust on it, I may not get em off the line, but we do a rolling start from anything over 20 and I can cook the best of em.

BTW man, let us know how it goes. I'm curious to see what they think of a Volvo wagon competing also.

I believe there's alot of vortexers who ave run their cars at both dragways I mentioned. They are not close to the MD area where so many of you guys here are from but it would be worth the trip. Or there's Englishtown... but kinda far for the new englanders. It could be annual SPRING and FALL event and moved around the Northeast.

Oh and on the off the line performance you noted. Have you done the wastgate rod turns yet?? That helped a BUNCH
A drag event between the sites would be interesting. Putting on an event like that will take some dinero though. I'll have to look into it.

No, I haven't done the wastegate mod yet. Any thoughts on downsides to the mod?

We'll have to keep the multi site drag event down to a simple show up at one of these king of the hill nights and see how it goes. The first time at least as I can imagine to get a track and hold the event would be costly.

As far as the wastegate rod mod... It really does take way the lag. I had a pal help me rig up a pressure gauge and pump and set base boost per the instructions IPD tech gave me. It was noticeably MUCH better off the line. So I went in and gave it another turn. I think I have 3 or 3.5 turns total now. I should check pressure again but don't have that gauge set up.

I'll forward along the base boost adjustments in a new topic so we can take the discussion there. Stay tuned.

Was he miffed? That's awesome. Those are great little cars, but they're also claimed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, and well, I'm not overly crazy about them. Knowing you beat one in a Volvo wagon.....makes me smile

WRX...Childs play! I have a few in the area and get the chance to play on the way in to work in the AM. The 850 T5 with ECU makes the WRX look like most other cars after 30 seconds or so. Just a pair of headlights in the rear-view mirror!

I would love to take the cars to the track and play around some. However the week days are never good for me. I know 75/80 track in MD runs on Saturdays, maybe a GTG there some day.

Seriously though, those 60-100+mph runs in the T5 is awesome, not many cars on the road can keep up. But on the other hand, those runs are also one of the weak points of the WRX. With only 220hp and close ratio 5-speed gearbox, the WRX pretty much run outta steam after 100mph anyways. The WRX is never meant for straight line speed, it's all about handling. Even with my bigger Legacy, I am driving faster in the rain than I ever did in our 855T with Bilsteins in the DRY!!

Anyways, I checked out the pictures of your car and I have to say it is awesome looking!! The only thing I will change is to get the '95+ taillight panel. Anyway, talk to you later

Man, on my way home just now, it was raining on and off and I was driving like crazy, then I caught up with this Audi RS2. Thought we were gonna play but that guy was too scared to do so
So disappointed, same thing happened to a Audi RS4 a couple of months ago.

Dude, seriously consider getting a better intercooler, I got amazing results after changing to a ARC IC. The whole powerband feels much smoother and more powerful.

By the way, when you get your C70 back, can you give me some feedback on the AVC-R? I am kinda deciding between the AVC-R and the Blitz SBC-ID as my next upgrade. Anyways, I will talk to you later.

Thanks for the compliments! Yeah, the older style of tail lights does date the car. However, it is a bit more distinguished using the older setup. I will try to find a doner car so I can update the goodies sometime. In regards to bringing your car here to kill mine...while you are at it, can you bring me an EVO-VII? I want one of those to play with. Not saying that anything can replace my turbo brick, just wanting something that you can not find here often.

Well, I know the DSBC used to be the best one around...before the AVC-R came out. For some reason the SBC-iD just doesn't seem to have as many function as the AVC-R. But then again, I haven't read enough articles to make that judgement.

Even then...not many people used DSBC, not sure why. I will give you more update when I do get to use the AVC-R. Maybe by then, I will just use the TEC III instead of my ECU.
You never know....

I really want to do all these other things I mentioned, but unless someone is going to sponsor me, I doubt I will be getting a new IC any time soon. Mortgage payment is really a biatch when it's as much as your half month salary.
