Got the spoiler and am so anxious to get it on the car! My biggest concern is obviously drilling into the car, but I am wondering if there's an error in the instructions.
After marking the holes, you drill through with a 1/8" bit. Then you use a 20mm hole saw to cut through the underside (understandable as you need a hole big enough to fit the socket), but then it tells you to re-drill the holes from the outside using a 9/32" drill and then again on the outside with a 7/16" bit. That's almost a 1/2" hole!?? Do they mean make the underside holes 1/2"? The bolt needed to attach is only maybe 1/8" in diameter, so why would you need to make a 1/2" hole? This worries me since the washers used from the underside aren't much larger than that.
Thanks, and this may be poorly worded, but I've got one shot to get this right!

Those work! They're the same, it's step 9C that concerns me most...that 7/16" bit scares me..

I see what your saying, ive followed the instructions when i did a V70R spoiler install and seemed to fit just right so i cant see these instructions being incorrect. However for peace of mind you could try calling Volvo to verify.

Would you call corporate or a dealer?

Re: (Veefifty T5AWD)

If you have a dealer near by show parts what you have and the instructions and see what they say. They may grab a tech to verify but odds are the tech will go by the instructions. Thats what we use anyway.
I cant say for 100% though as ive never actually done one on a V50 only a V70. I do remeber drilling rather large holes in that one as well. As long as the washers and hardware that go thru the bottom hole done get pulled up thru the top drill hole i dont see any problem. Just make sure the bit size that they recommend isnt too big.
I would start small and work up to the bit size perfect for the bolts supplied.

Well, just called the dealer, they said they've never had a problem with numbers being wrong, and that you step up the size so as not to srew up the paint. Maybe I'll try like 3/8" or something. Now, one other question, maybe Kyle can help with...would using a 22mm hole saw make any difference? I assume since it's on the underside, it wouldn't really matter, would it? I ask because I have access to a 22mm not a 20mm and I'm cheap!

Re: (Veefifty T5AWD)

Shouldnt matter only cosmetic to the underside having a larger hole. The bottom hole is used merely to get a socket and the hardware up thru the outter hole. Because im a perfectionist i would also look into plugs to cover the bottom holes. Thus pick a whole saw to accomodate them
