I really wanted to do this (waiting for IPD to get theirs out on the street) but I'm still debating whether I am keeping the car or not. If I am keeping it then I really want to do it. But if I decide to get rid of the car at the end of the lease, then I'm stuck with that cost. Lease expires in Oct 07.

several people do this, but keep in mind, once it is used the first time, its mated to the car and cannot be removed so you will have to trash it unless you end up keeping the car.

I'm also leasing my R, July 2006 - July 2010. I only have a little over 1,500 miles on it now, once it hits 7,500 I'm going to buy the ECU upgrade from IPD as I think it'd be a great investment to an already powerful automobile. I am thinking like igvolvo too, divide the cost over how many months you'll have the car to use and it's not that expensive.

Re: (liverichly)

I don't know, I'm really reading up on the new BMW 335 sedan and already got the green light for the purchase from the little lady. I love that car!!! She even oked the coupe, which I didn't think she would. My thoughts are that if I spend the cash and only use it for 1 year, is it really worth it? (in case I turn the R in)

Why not go ahead and do it? Your considering 07 mirrors but not an ECU upgrade That is more pointless than an ECU upgrade. The ECU upgrade will be much more exciting.

In a conversation with him this month I shared my thoughts and ideas about the ideal 'softloader' and he said he's take them into consideration.
But don't expect to save a TON of money taking it from one car to the next. Once the softloader is made and CAN-to-USB interface is in production those costs are probably insiginifcant but the real expense is in developing the particular ECU tune for each car and each stage.
Talk to Scott, he can explain the differences in how the various ECU tuners do their 'thing'.
ps. Scott, if Marco ever needs a place to stay in the Toronto area just give me a call!
LTA

If you a find a good one, which there are several of, you won't be disappointed. Try EST, Parts for Volvos.com, or even one of the direct outlets for BSR (i.e., anyone but the head office, depending on where you live)...
