Tite says it all. How much time and what is involved, (seat belt wise)?
I've never had to do this and a wagon I just sold has a (3rd) seat and the owner doesn't need or want it, so he told me I could have it
Needless to say I will take it

Went great, but there's a limit to what I should do with the arm right now

Re: Has anyone swapped out a 3rd seat (JRL)

Not from firsthand experience, but my mechanic (and drinking buddy) said to allow almost 2 hrs if you haven't done it before...
That relates to a 2001+, he doesn't really get to work on any older models... He's assuming it's similar... He said someone experienced with it could probably do it in less than half that time....

Re: Has anyone swapped out a 3rd seat (dugums)

taking it out will be, of course, much easier than putting it in. (it took me 4-6 hours on the install, but I was being anal on getting everything in just right) You will have to do some funky bending/contorting to get access into the ceiling mounting points for the seatbelts. Don't forget to pull the "female" piece out of the back of the midrow seat.

Re: Has anyone swapped out a 3rd seat (R2 Rnot)

Kiddies, do not try this at home unless you have plenty of time.
I forgot about a few things, like the rear hatch panals had to be swapped (no latch on one) the back of the rear seat has a latch to hold the seat in, (of course the one that is getting the seat doesn't).
The first half is done, seat removed and correct panels installed in the wagon I have to deliver tomorrow, the XC (which will be getting the 3rd seat) will be done Thursday or Friday, (no rush on that one), thank god

One doesn't think about it, but surprisingly, a lot of engineering went into the design of that 3rd row. Which may explain why the darned things cost so much.
