I am looking into upgrading my 2005 S40 2.4i with the following items. However, I'd like to see whether anyone here has done these upgrades, what those upgrade cost them, and whether there is a cheaper place to buy the parts than from Volvo stealers.
Homelink (stealer quoted at $287)
Trunk storage box for cargo area (stealer quoted at $22)
Aluminum Center Console (" quoted at $143)
Aluminum Door Trims (" quoted at $143)
Trip computer and lever (no quote)
Fog lights (no quote)
Has anyone installed these? Can you recommend a place to buy? I checked Borton's but I can find those parts on their Web site.
jetcat33

I added the trip computer...the dealer came close to an internet price I found and I think the final cost was about $180 or so including installation. I'll look it up when I get home tonight. I do have to say it was worth the money...I really like the trip computer.

The trip computer cost about $150...$78 for the turn signal part, $25 for the computer (I guess it was the program) and $50 for installation.
I don't think that's too bad...

Re: Has anyone installed these features? (jetcat33)

I purchased the Fog lights from AutoWebAccessories.com they were 156.61 plus I think $14 shipping, which was still cheaper than the $215 my dealer quoted me. I also purchased the rear cargo container from Boston Volvo for 18.10 but with shipping, which I remember being $5, it might just be cheaper to get it for $22 from the dealer and not have to worry about shipping. The Aluminum door trim and center console I got off of ebay, I believe there is a set of the door trim on there right now if I'm not mistaken. But they're for sale for 122.21 a piece at boston Volvo, But keep your eyes peeled on ebay if you have some time because I got the whole set off there new for $150 and then turned around and sold all of my wood trim I removed for $200. Do not pay the dealer to install the fogs or any of the trim. I think I asked them to just throw the trim on when I got my car serviced and they wanted to charge me some outrageous amount like $350 because they said it required removing the door panels. Come to find out it took all of 45 minutes to pop all off, switch out controls and pop them all back in, same with the fogs. If you have more than one volvo dealer withing driving distance shop around for the fog software upgrade. My local dealer down the road from where I work where I purchased my s40 wanted to charge me $37 for the software and $52 something to install it, but they said they would give them both to me for a deal at $85.99 plus tax. And I was like say what? So I called the dealer about 30 minutes away in a neighboring town and they gave me the software for $37 and the install for $18 and it ended up costing me $57 total with tax and everything. Hope this helps.

Try MySwedishParts.com as well. They are another Volvo Dealer with discounted prices. They're pleasant to deal with as well.

I have nothing to add to this, other than to comment on how insane it is that a replacement key is well north of $300, but adding a freaking trip computer (with a new stalk) is $170. Sigh...
</hijack>

Thank for all of your comments!
So far, I've decided to get, and have ordered from Boston Volvo, the following:
Trunk storage box for cargo area (for $18)
Aluminum Center Console (for $122)
Aluminum Door Trims (for $122)
Next up will be the trip computer. I just need to see which dealer to go to. Either Rickenbaugh or McDonald (here in Denver).
Are the fogs worth installing, or even having in the first place?
jetcat33

JC,
You'll find the fog lamps similar to the trip computer: the only parts in the "kit" from Volvo are the two lamps and a new dashboard switch - that's all. Your car will need a software download to activate the fog lamps.
John Sharisky

The fogs are worth it if you have somewhat foggy conditions. I live on a mountain and it tends to get pretty foggy at times. They only ended up costing me about $220 after everything (software, install and fog kit). They also make the car look much more sporty in my opinion
