Had a bit of bad luck today and hit part of a tire on the freeway. Bent the two metal bars in front of the intercooler pretty badly and it looks pretty ugly now. The two bars are meant to line up with the fog light housings and now it just looks bad. Has anyone had to replace them and know how much it would cost?

My two bars are paint flaking do to corrosion and expansion.cooling of the IC. It is indeed part of the IC but if you can get them straightened out on your own and the go to the dealer saying the paint is corroding off, you may be able to have it replaeced under warranty.

I've got the same problem with flaking paint on these bars. This is the only thread I could find on this subject. Anyone had success getting this covered under warranty?

Phil, I'll sell you my old IC - and do the install - for a fair price

Didn't even see the date... You sure? I'll throw in the other IC for free.

My dealer would not change mine because I am out of my original warranty period and my VIP does not cover "cosmetic issues" I was 3 days out of the original warranty.
I just painted it with high temp paint and it has been holding up fine since.

Where can you get said high temp paint? Can you just directly spray it on without having to take it off the car?

You should use the incident as an excuse to get a real interccoler that actually does something.
I will bet you that removing and tapping that front "supplemental intecooler" pos won't change anything performance wise.

Sorry for resurrecting the old thread but like I said I just got my R and have bad flaking. I'm not really ready to go modding so I guess I'll approach the dealer since I'm still under warranty. I need to have a 30k service done anyway but I think the oil was already changed so really it is mostly a waste...
