I was at work the other day looking at an accessories guide, and I started thinking. The previous owner of my car scratched up the bottom of the steering wheel something fierce, and on top of that it's got a "I've been used quite thoroughly" sheen too it. In the accessory guide there is an R-line steering wheel that feels great (it's got bulges at the 4 and 8 o'clock positions on top of the 10 and 2 ones). It's ridiculously expensive, but in R-world isn't everything?

So it lead me to think, has anyone replaced their wheels with newer R-design ones, or even MOMO/tuner-esque stuff??

Kinda looks like this one:

No idea if anybody has but a nice classy looking momo would look pretty hot.

Ive been staring at my Sparco wheel in teh garage.

But losing the Airbag (s), cruise control, Steering Wheel control just wouldn't be too attractive.

The web filter / pop up blocker here at work isn't very attractive eiether. I have to manually go into Profile and IM's and refresh each one.

We could just hijack this thread.....

Why would you want an R design wheel? They are far uglier than the R wheel.

Not sure how you figure that, but the feel of them is fantastic.

They are OK, but the R Design logo should never have existed. The R Design airbag is fugly, glad to see that Minn R kept the R airbag. From an aesthetic standpoint I prefer the look of the R wheel where the leather on the outside rim of the wheel is one piece.

+1. The wheel might have the feel, but R-Design is just a crime.

YES IT RHYMES.

Wait, so when the R-Design Airbag deploys and you regain consciousness, there is a design on the bag reminding you yet again that you have a poseur car?!?! That sucks. They should have just left the bag white.

God forbid I get in an accident, but at least I'll be saved by a huge R blowing up in my face. I bet ours is full of jello too.

Just FYI

The 850 . 70 series wheels also fit .

That might open some doors for Momo wheels and such

I didn't criticize your selection of the VW steering wheel.
I just corrected your reference to the "R".
And, FWIW, I just ordered one to replace the steering wheel in my R. I'm going to paint mine Nordkap, pop off the Wolfsburg horn button and replace it with a round Volvo center cap sticker.

Sounds sweet. When does the tasselled carpet go on the dash and headliner?
