I suppose the same process applies to P2 cars as well as a V70 (99)
I need to know,(if anyone has done this) how long a process this is and what's involved with changing out the seat belts?

Re: Has anyone ever changed out a 3rd seat (JRL)

I did it on my '97 850. I found the instructions to clear and thorough. I would expect the same for the newer cars.
It took an afternoon, as I recall, but I'm pretty slow. I wouldn't shy away from it. In my opinion, this is one project where you can really save money by DIY.

Are you asking about removing the 3rd seat? If yes then you need to have the original parts that were back there before the 3rd seat was installed. I installed the 3rd seat in my car so I saved the original parts.
If you just want to remove the seat belts then it's not hard. You remove one screw (under the suppot for the trunk cover) and pull out the side trims. Under them are the belts tensioners. You also have to remove one bolt that keeps the side ceiling trims on and pull them off to remove the top braket. There is one more bolt holdong the low seatbelt ends.
Let us know what exactlly do you want to do and I can send you more info.

Re: Has anyone ever changed out a 3rd seat (phuz)

Title says changed out, SWAP.
I have two identical wagons, I need to swap, one has a seat, one does not.
This is moot as I took it to the dealer, I needed it done ASAP! One has to be delivered on Wed.

This was/ is not an easy job.
Hatch panels are different, middle seat back is different. (Both have or don't have latches and also need to be swapped).
The seat belts are the easiest part, all the other stuff is a real PIA One is done, the removal, the other (the re-install of the seat in another wagon, which I'm not in a rush for) will be done later in the week.
