Is it the 05 or 06+ that have the upgraded/better precharged Haldex?
What would it take to get the same in the 2004 Rs? Just swap the unit that is next to the drive shaft in the rear? Re-tune the ECU?
Thoughts?

somebody asked this recently....cannot find thread
the answer was "it's cheaper to sell yours and buy another one with the new haldex unit"
not an option for you with all those pesky mods

06
You cannot change anything.
It's primarily the software and not transferrable to an 05 and ESPECIALLY an 04 which has a totally different electrical system!
so FORGET IT, it cannot be done

Re: (Chilled Man)

Kinda crazy...
What constitutes the "electrical system" though? Which components are we talking about?

my guess buy a wrecked 05 or 06 and do a full harness swap.

It's a check valve in the hydraulic system of the Haldex AOC that keeps the clutch pack "pressurized" so that it reacts more quickly.
Honestly, I don't think it's that big of an upgrade. You'd have to change the whole Haldex and as JRL says, it's likely that it would not be backwards compatible with the electrical system, especially going back to an '04.
And I am pretty sure it's not just a matter of harnesses, it's the actual CANBUS.

canbus is part of the harness
basicly pull all the wireing and parts out of the 06 and install it in the 04.
Now if you find a Manual 06R I would be willing to do the whole thing for free minus a few select parts from the car
