I know that some aftermarket companies have modified the the Haldex unit to shift more to the rear wheel, sooner, etc. Here's a recent exchange with one...
Send
From: Robbins, John [mailto:[email protected]]
Sent: August 13, 2009 8:06 AM
To: [email protected]
Subject: Haldex for Volvo
Do you know if your modified Haldex units will work on a Volvo S60R?

John Robbins, CFA
Managing Director
Global Head of Compliance
Babson Capital Management
________________________
Response
From: HPA Motorsports Sales Dept. <[email protected]>
To: Robbins, John
Sent: Thu Aug 13 13:50:21 2009
Subject: RE: Haldex for Volvo
Hi John,
We do not currently have a Volvo application but it is something that is in the works.
Keep checking back to our website, once we have an available production it will be posted online.
Unfortunately I have absolutely no idea; I can’t even begin to estimate how long it will take the engineers to finish.
I’d like to say a month or two but I would just be guessing.
Kind regards,
Nik Brkich
Sales
E: [email protected]
T: 604-598-8520 x103
F: 604-598-8760
HPA Motorsports Inc.

Wow this might give me an incentive to actually care about getting my angle gear fixed...again. On that same token, tinkering around with the Haldex is kind of a moot point if our angle gears keep crapping out.

our haldex is pretty similar to the R32, which run haldex controllers all day long, so it shouldnt be a shock that we could too

The angle gear won't handle constant higher torque loads. Evolve was working on this a bunch of years ago and Volvo shut them down.

If power was sent to the rear wheels all the time, then it would be much better because there is no rapid engagement, which is a lot more stress. Also, the software could allow the power to be changed evenly with consideration for drivetrain parts.
