I was coming home tonight and I was on a bypass with only a stinkin' (literally) Mitsu Eclipse (must have been a 1998 or 1999 model) GTX with a big-a$$ spoiler, clear tail light lenses and a HUGE "fund collecting" coffee can...he was on my left side, a tractor trailer on my right and no one behind us or in front of us. This is kind of a long bypass, probably about 2 1/4 miles. This idiot was on the left lane going about 45 miles per hour and even after I signaled him with my headlights, he would not move...Had nowhere to go and he started slowing down! SOB!!! Talking about getting steamed by a left-lane bandit. Anyway, he made the mistake of not coordinating his speed with the tractor trailor; the truck driver (to his credit) saw what was going on and he REALLY slowed down to let the r1ce burner surge ahead...well, the "magic" opening appeared and from a little under 40 mph I let her rip...BTW, I was <U>fortunate</U> enough to be in my...T5! Hehehe! As I dropped her into 3rd gear and starting to cut into the right lane, he gunned it too. He surged ahead, well, next thing I knew I was in 4th and into triple digits...Ahhhh! Open road ahead, high beams on, r1ce burner behind me and falling further back, only a possible cop hiding around the soft curve ahead...Instant satisfaction of the senses...Until I looked at the speedo and really got alarmed...I did not realize it but this was the fastest I had ever taken my car at...it certainly did not feel that way but I was kind of shocked that the Mitsu could not keep up with me...went around the soft curve and let her coast, I was at about 85 mph when he reappeared in my rearview mirror, no cops at the turn (that is why I am writing this tonight or I would be somwhere else! Actually they are only there during the day as they do not use Radar, only VASCAR), speed down to 80 and he zoomed past me...I guess the crisp air really helped in taking advantage fully of the upgraded programming...I can now tell that the exhaust most likely opened it up a bit more when I was beyond 90...<p><br>Anyone else ever had a run in with a Mitsu Eclipse Turbo?<p><br>Yannis<br>

Yep, when I had my C70 HPT manual coupe, I was racing a mitsu and I was ahead and walking away from him when I hit the darn speed limiter in 4th it was pretty even to 100. Wish I'd had a chip ! <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://********************/smile/emsmile.gif" BORDER="0">

Ah yes Yannis. Isnt it great to dust 'em???<br>I was coming off the freeway the other night and this black BMW 528i was racing like he owned the place. He got loose before me so I played catch up until the next light. I let him get me off the line so I could get my turbo all wound up for the next light. He beat me but only by a bit. My heart is in my throat waiting for a good light, both our windows are down and then the light goes green. I got off the light first. I let that 5 cylinder do the work and it did. He couldnt do anything about it. Anyways we stopped at a local coffee house and chatted in the parking lot about our cars. He simply couldnt believe he was smoked by a Volvo. Oh yeah!!!!!!
