I just sent out an order for some lowerings springs and plan to put it in this week. I was going to do it myself but is it too complicated to do yourself to have it done professionally? Also what are the tools needed and people with springs installed how bad is camber toe and caster affected? thanks

Re: H&R springs (bopmychimbeech)

I changed my clutch so I had to take off the shafts, supper easy on this car as there is no gland nut, I used a hammer on the arms and the tie rod and ball joints fell out with a few whacks, This is a one bolt strut that sits in the knuckle which just fell off some times you gotta spread it with a prybar or the make special spreaders too. The strut is nothing special, you just need the normal compressor deals. Easy setup.

Re: H&R springs (Oldman)

Back springs are easy just make sure you disconnect the sway bar fully before going at it.
Fronts I would take out the bolt on the caster piece that holds the shock. Then disconnect the sway bar's and like Oldman said just whack it loose with a rubber mallet or whatever you want. Then disconnect the top of the shock and then take the spring apart.
I WOULD recommend you rent a spring compressor from your local autoparts store (most have a loaner program) so make the install of the fronts that much easier.
I have done a H&R install so if you get lots of stuck or something then shout me a holla.

Ok, I have little experience with Volvos so I could be wrong but I THINK an impact gun will be your best friend for putting the shock assembly back together.......is this correct?
One of these days when i'm not working or going to school I really need to poke around on this car.

Re: (TFS)

did it in 4 hrs , but didn't have a lift . You Will need a spring compressor. might as well buy one if you plan on doing this more than once.

To all the people in houston out there with their volvo lowered, you know well about the construction on the highway. (I10) Have you ever had any problems with your body scraping?
