Looking to invest a set of coilovers for the S40. Looking at the H&R and KW setups. Everybody talks about it, but nobody has ever mentioned real world performance. Any reviews?
Through searching, people are saying the H&R goes for $1200. Is that market value or is there a sweet deal going on somewhere?

Re: H&R/KW Coilovers: Anybody have any reviews? (MarvynDT)

I'm actually not sure where the 1200 came from but I could have sworn that's what they were on the H&R site, but after just looking the sugg. retail is 1680.
I don't think anyone on here is running anything other than springs that I know of but I would like to someday (but we just started building a new house). Besides I'd rather mod my GTI at the moment.
As for "performance" I think you've awakend the beast with that word......

Re: H&R/KW Coilovers: Anybody have any reviews? (TFS)

The $1200 price came from searching on this forum. One member said he got a sweet deal at a local tuner shop. All other posts list the H&R coilovers as a $1200 option. I'm not sure if that's because of the member stating his deal or if that's the current market price. Saw the suggested retail price on H&R, but then again, who really pays suggested retail?
I'm not at all happy with the stance of my AWD S40. Even with the current lineup of springs, they still leave a fender gap I'm not at all satisfied with.

Re: H&R/KW Coilovers: Anybody have any reviews? (MarvynDT)

I had KW V2 coilovers on my C70 so I'm basing my comments on that. It is VERY rough. On the C70, I could never get it really dialed down. I don't know if corner balancing would do anything. But it was a rough ride nonetheless. However, if you live in an area with nicely paved roads, it would be fine. The car handles like an absolutel dream though, stays completely flat during sweeps and corners. You'll have to weigh in the handling over the rough ride.

What IS the stock height difference between the AWD and FWD?

Corner balancing doesn't help with ride firmness -- that's strictly a function of spring rate and/or dampers.

Re: H&R/KW Coilovers: Anybody have any reviews? (quick)

I am about to pull the trigger on the H&R coilover setup, does anyone know of a better price then $1429.95??
Unfortunately, all the sites say that the H&R coilovers are only front adjustable for the s40. However, I did see another post here on swedespeed that said H&R confirmed, on the telephone, that they are both front and rear height adjustable.

This company was standup and sold them to me for the advertised price eventhough they did not have to. Since my order they have raised their price by $400. If you are still interested PM me.
On another note, I installed the coilovers today and I will be posting a brief review and pictures after I put some miles on them.

Yeah, any pics?
I'm also contemplating on either getting just Eibach springs or KW V2 coilovers (costly exercise). Anyone has any reviews between these 2 options with regards to:
1) Performance
2) Ride Comfort
Cheers!
IMO the rebound damping with the stock dampers isn't well matched to the aftermarket springs (Eibach, Evolve, whoever).
If you want a good ride I'd say go with some custom valved shocks to go with them if you get them.
