i have a gt rally instrument panel that i put into my 245. i have one problem with it.the tacho. when i conect it, it goes mental.i do about 3500rpm and the things says im doing 6!now the question is..is there a special rev counter for a 6 cylinder and 4 cylinder?is it that i have a 6 cylinder rev counter instead of 4?any help.also there are 4 terminals..but it has seperate light wires, and i only have two wires conected..hwat r these other two for? will they make a differnce? thanks.

If you put a 6cylinder tach into a 4cylinder car and drove at 6000rpm, the tach would show 4000rpm. It reads at 4/6 (=2/3) of the actual value. You may just have a bad tach. I really don't know. You could try to find a shop that deals in calibrating speedometers. If they couldn't fix it, at least they might be able to identify the problem or pass on information about someone that could repair it.

Here in the US, there's at least one location of the VDO company where one can send a gauge to have it repaired/refurbished.
