Anyone tried Ground Control's coilover springs on their S60R?

Oh geez.

Theyre gonna be harsh. Especially as the lower you go, the more suspension travel you Lose. You cannot adjust the perch, you can only adjust the spring on the sleeve. So when you lower the car, you lower the suspension travel.

*clunk clunk*

Typcially hard spring rate.

This is probably what Evolve used on their system.

Not only that, if you get the car to unload it may cause clunking.

ZOMG MUST HAVE..... Ground control is one of the best coilover kits. practically all of the BMW world use both there coilovers and camber plates for racing applications
Re: (p0cket penguins)

you might have to modify the strut to use this... i suggest getting some s60 struts and using it
Re: (p0cket penguins)

My friend had these with koni yellows on his car. Excellent for racing like penguins said, but a big http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif for the street. Your car will break in half, along with your girlfriend's a$$. After 2-3 years it loosened up his car's entire body, creating creaks and squeaks everywhere (hatchback), and he finally switched to eibachs prokit (thank God!). It was fun taking exit ramps at 80mph without breaking a sweat, but his car was just too uncomfortable on these new england streets. 5min of fun isn't worth 23 hours and 55min of pain.

So when you lower the car, you lower the suspension travel.

When you lower the car you're just shortening the assembly not compressing the spring.
im not even kidding i was just talking about trying to fab up a kit just like this last night. this is the answer to all my s60r prayers.

FYI ground controls are a joke in terms of performance and ride quality you can expect.

There is no assembly to shorten, your simply lowering the spring. Not compressing it.

Thus going from...example 3" of travel to 2" of travel if you lower the car 1"
Re: (chinaonnitrous1)

The rings moves the metal assembly down to raise the car and up to lower the car, spring travel is the same.

Spring travel will not be the same, since ground control is a sleeve over any strut.

The metal RED assembly never moves. It is just simply sitting on the spring perch.

It is the spring itself that is moving up and down on the shock body. In that picture if you grabbed that gold collar and moved it all the way to the bottom you would lower the car about 1/2 inch. However the red sleeve would not move. So you would lose 1/2" travel.

BTW. I've already used this setup on my 2002 Maxima, then switched to JIC coilovers. So I really know the difference.

ITs to hold on the Bump stop. They probably CUT the bump stop and put it on.

Theres only about 2" of supension travel there.

Scary.
Other than the fact that the R has electronic struts, the design must be similar to a vanilla S60? I might just try and buy them to see if they would work for a T5. If they do, I would be a very, very happy man. I'll give them a call to see what they say.
These sleeves will work on ANYTHING

Including your hydraulic office chair.

If the strut/shock has a Perch where a spring sits, you can use this.

You just slide it on.

.

The spring travel WILL be the same. You're not changing the tension of the spring but the positioning.
However, you will not be able to go all the way down with these "things" since the spring tophat will hit the strut body
