Who can speak to this...and what is the solution? At highway speeds my '97 855 devlops a humming sound, which I belive stems from the wind hitting the front grille. It can be unbearable, and distracting. Is there something that needs to be tightened or what? Must I live with this? I could opt for the mesh grille from IPD as a replacement, but the thought of laying out that kind of cash in USD is not appealing to me at this point. How else can I solve this? Suggestions or similar experiences from the group?

To check whether it is the grille or not, it's a simple matter to take it out - just slide the six clips along and it'll simply lift out.

Try that first, and if it IS the grille, jam some Blu-tak in behind it when you re-install to damp its vibration.

Blu-tak is the tinkerer's friend and obviously not common in the States; it's a low-tack plastic substance like Silly Putty which is excellent as a vibration damper in cars, hi-fi, etc.

It's mostly used however to stick posters to the walls of kid's bedrooms.

If you can't get Blu-tak, use that gungy stuff they stick CDs to magazines with.
