Hello everyone. I’m just joining the community here and wanted to introduce myself and say hi. Last weekend I picked up a 2006 S60R. I have been reading this forum for some time and the information you all have provided was very helpful in my research and decision process. After a week of driving, I am extremely happy with the car. I went with sonic blue/nordkap, premium, convenience, climate, 18” pegs, air q, and sat prep options. I’m coming off of a 2003 BMW 325 XIT (that’s the wagon version) with the “sports package”. I thought that car drove well, but from a performance perspective there is no comparison with the R. Like many of you, my criteria for a new ride had safety, AWD, and 4 doors at the top of the list. My wife and I are expecting our first baby in August, so I wanted a family friendly car that I would enjoy driving (wife is taking the BMW). The R fits the bill nicely and I have been having great fun driving it. Past cars that I have owned include: 1968 VW bus (full camper in near showroom condition with a ton of mods), 1989 Ferrari 328 GTS (Azure blue), 1984 Porsche 911 (Red Carrera Targa), and a 1991 VW Vanagon.
Unfortunately, the dealer put 2 screws in the front bumper of the R when installing a license plate frame (I drove down to Annapolis MD from PA to get this car). Also, yesterday I got a 2 inch scratch (possibly a crack) in the front windshield. The roads around this area are in poor shape these days due to a crazy amount of rain we just experienced. So I have a few minor repairs to do already.
I noticed the other day that both fog lights have a good deal of condensation on the inside of the lights. Thought it would dissipate, but it seems to be persistent. Is this typical on the R?
I ordered the exhaust cable from Takespeed and I’m considering the JRL mod at 1,000 or 1,500 miles when I do the initial oil change. I would like to tint the windows (Soledoc’s tint on the sonic blue looks great). Are there any issues with applying tint in conjunction with the laminated side windows that are part of the convenience package?
Glad to be here and appreciate the info.
Brian
My dealer says that moisture in the fog lamps is normal because they aren't sealed . . .
- Mark

Re: (phuz)

I have someone very close to you (Chester Springs, Rts.100 & 401) that will fill your bumper holes and repaint for about $150, let me know if you want the name of his shop
JRL
