As mentioned before, half of all fatal auto accidents in the USA are run-off-road accidents. Yet only little Volvo has protections against this possibility. They've done so without government regulations, and way ahead of the other car companies.

Indeed a credit to Volvo, although it only works on the two front seats.
But don't underestimate the importance of the seat belt reeling you back into your orthopedically designed Volvo seat to get the proper posture for high G impacts. And when you're young, your back can handle higher Gs. Example--The US Air Force high performance trainer, the T-38, has an ejection seat that exerts 15Gs when fired, but the shoulder harness reels you back upright a split second before it fires. Most young people's backs can handle 15Gs if they are in the correct position. Mine probably couldn't. My point is, I'm the old guy in the front seat who gets the G load reduced from 10Gs to 5Gs, while the kids in the back only need proper posture to prevent a bad back injury. :)
