Well for the last two years I have been hearing "Ryan this car still smells so new". With the odometer about to hit the 60k mark (the last 12k of those just from interning this summer ) Those comments seemed to have faded slightly, or maybe it was just cause I don't drive very many people anymore? Anyways, I couldn't help but smile when my little 11 year old brother sat in the back seat and said "ry ry, why does your car still smell new?" . Either I treat the inside of my car very well or volvo has a very superior team of interior aroma researchers, or maybe even both . Regardless, I enjoy it.

If you do and keep it well maintained, your car will smell new forever (or at least a long ass time)...good job! Also, don't eat food in your car either. French fry stench is a bitch to get out...also try the auto Febreze...it works like a charm! Alright, that's my 2 cents...

Re: (phuz)

My V50 has leather, but never smelled like new car, or new leather. Volvo engineered the smell out of it. I'm driving an 06 S60 right now, and I sure notice the leather smell in that one. Rather nice.
Al

R leather is natural, if you keep it treated it will smell (good) for years, mine does, over 3 years now

Just a bit of trivia for you. Can someone tell me WHY leather smells the way it does? Once you know, you may not find the smell all that appealing.
I work with leather on a near daily basis, so I don't notice it as much anymore, but it really jumped out at me in the S60. V50 leather is just as nice, but they engineer the new car smell out these days. Too many allergens in in it.
Al - President and founder of Seams Perfect Auto Upholstery & Trim

Nope, leather smells the way it does, because of what it's tanned with. Fish oil! Stick your nose right to the seat, and have a whiff. You'll smell the fish for sure.
Al
