I got pulled over today. not for speeding, but for 3 violations.
1. front window tint (i admit, its my fault)
2. tail light tint (wtf?)
3. failure to display front plate (hmmmmmmm...??)
For the window tint, im just goin to pay the money and not goin to dispute, cause it my fault.
but, tail light tint? arent they legal as long as they reflect red? mine is completely black, but it does reflect red when i step on the breaks.
and for the front plate, i did have it displayed...on my dashboard. i htought it is ok if it is visible from the front? i tried to argue with the officer about this front plate issue, he said it has to be a certain height. does anyone know about this?
so, should i go to court and argue to death on tinted tailights and front plate? or should i just pay and aviod looking like an idiot at the court for not knowing the law.

Re: ...got pulled over (awd)

what isnt legal in CA? or is it like stupid michigan laws...none are acceptable??!!
sorry to hear that...btw it is a messy process to remove the tint, and to have it re-installed; extra cleaning by installers is necessary.

in ny you dont have to pay a fine if you get the tints removed and the same goes for breaklight tints. as long as you show proof (receipt or pictures of changes) the ticket gets dismissed. unless of course theres a state out there that tries to get more money out of its residents than new york??

WOW i just got the same citation this weekend and opened a new thread before i read yours.
dude, what is our chances...both of us in los angeles....get the same icitation on the same weekend? RTFLMAO

BTW, how can you just pay off the tint ticket? aren't we suppose to remove and have it cleared? for the plate, i hate to drill holes on my beuatiful evolve bumper, and for the tailight, my cousin is a sheriff and the LAMC clearly states NO MODIFICATION allowed. im just going to buy a new set and after clearing my ticket, replace it with my smoked ones.

LOL! wow, must have been the same cop who is just too jealous that we own a nice S40 with evolve kit
hmm...im not planning on fixing anything. because im expecting the ticket to be somewhere around $125-200. $25 for front plate, $90 for window tint(what my friend told me), and taillight tint (not sure, but could be somewhere around $50-$90).
and if i want to remove those window tint, its goin to cost me $50 to remove, and another $50-$75 to re-tint.
and i dont want to spend $ on getting new taillights, cause they will not be cheap, prob $200 for one? idk
finially, there is no way im drilling my evolve bodykit.
so i guess its less hassle and less money to not contest violation.

Re: (biotek)

If you have to "prove" the front plate mount, an easy and non-permanent solution is double-sided tape. You can peel the plate off afterwards.
Or, you can use a magnet, so it just sticks there for the inspection.

Re: (volvos40t5)

the officer who pulled me over said if i fix everything before jun 8th, i just have to pay $10 for transaction fee or whatever fee that the government wants.
so from what he told me, that means, if i dont fix anything, i will just have to pay the fine.
not sure if we will receive a point on the driving record. probably not? cuz its not really driving violation, but a modification violation. not sure, im just guessing here.
