After what seemed only like a lifetime, my T5 was finally released from autobody prison. The final tally after supplemental stuff? $19782.19!!!!!!! No lie. Total parts = $14670! The parts that were replaced took up five pages.
I have to get reimbursed for all of my deductables and the rental car because I filed a claim with my insurance company, so hopefully I will get that back in a reasonable time. My rental car expense was a little over $1200. So far, I am out of pocket over $2k on this incident. Sucks...
I need to take the car in to be looked at because it is making a strange noise coming from the front right corner going over bumps. Other than that, it seems the same as I remember. It's sort of like having a new car again, I forgot how to drive it. I won't waste bandwidth on pics because it looks like new considering that everything on the front half of the car was replaced. Now if the noise can be eliminated, I think that I might be able to keep it until the pricing for the R comes out. I have a ready made excuse to get one now!

:choke: $19,782.19 to fix your S60? Ouch! What happened? (sorry if I am bringing it up again, I'm a newbie). Too bad it couldn't have been totaled so you could've gotten something else.
Congrats on getting the car back. How long was it at the shop for?
But now, you can move on to the S60R. What does the noise sound like?

Ron

Wouldn't that much damage make the car considered totalled... I was under the impression that if the repairs were more that half the blue book value it was totalled.....
Spencer

Re: Got my car back! (B518T)

Sorry for the delay. The noise I was hearing was a tapping-type sound every time I hit a bump in the road. And something felt loose in the suspension.
I spent all day at my dealer getting things fixed that my autobody shopped missed. Yes, even at nearly $20k, they missed a broken motor mount and used the wrong bolts to attach the right front sway bar.
So I am out another $410 because obviously this was not a warranty issue.
But finally, my car feels like normal. I had forgotten what real acceleration felt like...
B518T - here is the original thread, I tried to reply to it last night, but couldn't so I had to create a new one.
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=1172

The current value of my car was something like $25k, so this was more than that, but the repair was in motion and they wouldn't stop it. I am sure he will have to answer for approving this much to fix my car.

That's nothing man, my friend totalled his dads BMW 325i sedan, 27k total in damages. That's the base price for one new! The insurance company was quoted 19k or so, and that's the only reason it got fixed, they woulda said screw you if they were quoted the 27k it turned out to be.
