Just got this message when starting the car. My guess is that the airbag is disabled because of some fault. I guess Austin hot sun was too much...
I scheduled service for next week (when the loaner car will be available).
Have to be careful and not get into any collisions until next Wednesday.

Re: Got message: SRS-AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT (sliberman)

Got the same message when i disconnected the radio to replace burnt out bulbs before i disconnected the battery. something to do with the MOST system. did you do any work/disconnect any wiring on the center console recently?
Trip to my indie service center was a no charge reset of the computer. if you go to your dealer they most likely will charge you $75 to do the same thing.
Maybe you have a loose connection that was exposed by the austin heat?

Re: Got message: SRS-AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT (Vinny)

The message appeared all by itself. I did not do anything out of the day to day use of the car. It could be that some connection got loose, but the car seems to be working well.
If it was just a glitch in the electronics, then a reset may fix it. I worry about an actual problem with the air bag.

I had the same issue right after my 15k mile checkup. Not sure what they did, but they were able to fix it. We were nervous about it because we were about to leave the next day for a long road trip, so I begged them to squeeze us in (which they did!)

Service checked car, the SRS-AIRBAG module is OK, but had stopped communicating with the rest of the car, hence the alarm.
The fix required rebooting the software in the car, for a paltry $190.
For a computer glitch. Not covered by the extended warranty. Nice.

A Battery disconnect for a few hours would have done the same thing....

Re: Got message: SRS-AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT (sliberman)

So the message is back, less than a day after picking the car from service.
Obviously there is some sort of bad contact in a cable or screwed-up electronics that cannot take 120F heat.

Re: Got message: SRS-AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT (sliberman)

They found out (after calling some Volvo center) that the rear end air bag sensor was faulty. They replaced the sensor and the problem went away.
For some days.
The red light and the message warning are back.
I am getting less and less impressed with Roger Beasley Volvo service here in Austin.

Did you get your $190 back since that didn't fix it?
